You could pay $1200 for an already outdated nav app or you could use the free, included CarPlay or Android Auto, and if you have a 2019+, you're out of luck

I get GM service parts at cost. I have a 2017. I'm not tech savvy so i have zero idea what carplay or android auto is. I'm assuming it's an app that connects the navigation on your phone to your head unit? Just seems easier to have it already in your head unit.

Exactly, just plug your phone in, and read your users manual or look up a video, you already have this in your car

It can be done. You must swap the HMI module for one w/nav and add a GPS antenna. The HMI must be programmed for your VIN and then it becomes an orphan, by that I mean from then forward it won’t match up at the dealer so you can’t let them “reflash” the HMI.

All will work with the exception of having the posted speed on the HUD
You get turn by turn symbols but no posted MPH. That can be had at the cost of removal of the instrument cluster for additional programming. Personally, I don’t miss it.

I hope this helps!
