1st Place at the PPIR Search for the Ultimate Street Car Event
The JDP Motorsports crew arrived Friday July 8th in Colorado Springs, CO for the Optima Batteries Search for the Ultimate Street Car event at PPIR. The week leading up to the event was busy as we installed the prototype Detroit Speed/JRi Shocks coilover package that also included front adjustable camber plates. We finished the installation and alignment just before the car went into the trailer. We weren't 100% sure what to expect performance wise with the new Alpha platform but we had a good idea with our Zeta platform experience and help form JJ Furillo at Ultimate Performance. The attitude of the car completely changed and Evilynn was ready to EAT!! We kicked off the event with the Powerstop Speed Stop Challenge. The course started on the oval track and it ended on pit road. This is one of the more challenging courses we run throughout the season but it is a lot of fun. This gave us the opportunity to make some suspension adjustments and we started fine tuning the new Detroit Speed coilover package. When the dust settled we ended up 2nd in the GT class with a solid performance. Next up was the Detroit Speed Autocross and the course did not disappoint! The USCA crew put a great course together that was both fast and challenging! This event brought out a lot of the usual suspects including Aaron Sockwell, Matt Alcala and Cliff Eliot in their Mustangs as well as some new competitors including Mark Legg in his 2011 BMW M1. We fought hard and found the car had a lot of oversteer which put us in 4th Place leading into the final lap where we took a swing at the set up. That swing netted us the 2nd fastest time in GT and a 2nd place finish!!! Photo Dave Liddle The day ended Saturday evening with the Lucas Oil TV Road Rally which was the easiest road rally we've done to date! The scenery in the Pikes Peak area is beautiful so it was an enjoyable drive. The 2016 JDP Camaro was flawless and it was nice to enjoy the A/C after a HOT day! Sunday morning brought the Falken Tires Hot Lap Challenge and we were excited to see what the Camaro would do on the road course! We were sitting in 1st Place in GT heading into this segment and we knew we had a great shot at winning the GT Class. The first session put us into 1st place by over 2 seconds in GT but the car was far from perfect with a lot of understeer. We knew the competition would tighten things up so we went to work! The 5th session is where we finally got the balance where we wanted it and we ran our fastest time of the day despite the heat. We ended up with the fastest time in GT and 1st Place! We had a FANTASTIC weekend at the Pikes Peak International Raceway USCA event! We faced a lot of great competition in the fight to defend our win from last year’s event. We were on the podium for every segment with 2nd place in the PowerStop Speed Stop, 2nd place in the Lingenfelter Design and Engineering portion, 2nd place in the Detroit Speed autocross segment and 1st in the Falken Tires Hot Lap Challenge. The Strong performance from the entire JDP crew netted us a hard-earned FIRST PLACE in a VERY competitive GT class!!! Also we want to give a great big shout out to the awesome folk over at Detroit speed for the prototype Detroit Speed/JRi Shocks coilover package. It really helped out this weekend so thank you guys! Nice work!! 6th Gen is putting in some work! If you dont mind, would you be willing to share your exhaust combo with us? I have watched some auto-X videos of the car online and it sounds absolutely sinister. Keep up the good work!

I saw your car in the Fastest Car Magazine. Glad you got rid of the roller skate looking wheels and tires. Congrats on your success, these cars do handle pretty awesome.

I would have enjoyed this article more if I knew who the competitors were. I saw that he said Mustangs were there.
