I took it to the dealer last week and I told him I thought the sensors must be bad. He agreed with me and ordered whatever part or sensor he thought would fix it. I was wondering if anybody else I had had a similar experience?

You should try to cycle the top. Make sure you always hold the button for moving the top (either direction) until it beeps and the display between the gauges says "top motion complete"....oh and never drive 110 mph with the top unsecured.

Top up top down

We have a 2016 SS. So far no trouble with the top the key fob is for only lowering the top. The inside button does both but you must hold it it takes 16 seconds just drive carefully or pull over if your unsure of yourself. Happy motoring all keep the wind in your hair.

I can operate the top with the key fob, but of course, I cannot use it while driving. And of course you can't close it with the key fob.

Is it a simple convertible switch replacement, or is there a deep issue at play here? Hopefully it's not a relay issue or something.
If the top works OK with the fob, I would think the switch/switch harness would be the main suspect. I assume you're still under bumper to bumper warranty? Let us know what you find.

I have the same problem on 17 1SS - it takes multiple tries before it will close... Took it to the dealer. They couldn't replicate the problem but when I was leaving the dealer, it started to rain so when I tried to put the top up, it wouldn't.

I pulled right into the quick service entrance and the service adviser came out. I was still holding the button with nothing happening and I said "look - it will not close". He said it needs to be pressed for a "period of time" and I said I've been holding it since we've been talking

I mentioned that I heard that it's likely the switch but he said they still need to "diagnose" it before replacing the switch.

Anyway, they spent an afternoon diagnosing it before saying they would have to order a switch. They would call me when it came in. That was a week ago and I'm still waiting

And someone with a similar problem bumped it. Are you implying that the original post is so old, no one else could possibly have the same issue?

My convertible is saying “only manual of top possible”. Is it anyway I can reset the convertible code myself?

I had something similar to that. Apparently when I was replacing the battery, I knocked the plug loose that goes to a top position sensor behind and above the battery. It's either a yellow or white wire, don't remember. Maybe you have something similar.

Convertible

One year with the car so far no issues with the roof. Really like how quiet the Camaro is with the top down, had a C7 coupe previously. Very noisy with the roof off, lots of air buffeting noise.
