Another cliché street tires on a ZLE thread
I have other wheels for track use so I decided to put a set of Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires on the factory wheels. Wow! What an amazing difference! I have (up to this point) only driven on the Goodyear Supercar 3R factory tires which aren't known for their street manners.
As for what is so much better...cold performance when the tires aren't up to temp is soooo much better. The compliance of the sidewall is a huge + because the 3Rs will jar and rumble on every imperfection. Tramlining is absent and bridge junctions are not a problem. The harshness is gone. The car is completely driveable and enjoyable on the street. Some of you are saying "duh" but I didn't expect this much. I opted for the Continentals because of their reputation and price. Michelin 4S was a possibility also. See below for a pic from Tire Rack.

Yes the tires are good. I was going to get the PS4 but sizes were unavailable so pulled the Extreme contact’s been very satisfied with them for street duties.

Agreed, on these now as daily/wet tires. Only thing I’d have to say is, wish they where the smallest bit wider or 315/335 sizes

The first thing I did before even taking delivery of the car was to put on PS4S tires. I never had the ride issues that people kept harping about. The high spring rates on this car is complemented by tires with softer sidewalls for the street.
I reserve the GY3R tires for the track only.

I noticed the same differences when swapping the SC3R’s to the PS4S. There is a very noticeable difference in ride quality with the suspension on the ZLE. As you stated, so much more compliant for daily road use. Doesn’t ‘self-mutilate’ by throwing rocks and road debris at itself like the super sticky SC3R’s always did.

There's no more popular topic here than tires, and I always reply the same - MPS4S

I put the ECS on my 1LE and I like a lot of things about the tire but the front end has a push to it now when driven hard that I just don't like. Sidewall feels soft, or it rolls over before it bites...I don't like it for that reason alone. Been trying +2 psi on the fronts but I'm not happy with it. Nice treadwear, quiet, lots of grip up to that point that I want to push it hard. Of course much more hydroplane resistant than the SC3.

I just got new tires on my 18' ZLE and highly considered the Continentals but opted for 305/30ZR19 MPS4S front and 345/30ZR19~NITTO NT555RII rear. I finally have traction! My tire guys said the Continentals would be a great choice for all year rubber. I'm on the east coast US, they told me the Continentals perform much better than most performance tires in the colder weather.

I've been saying for the last 3 years that the best two tires are the Michelin PS4S and the Conti ExtremeContact Sport. The Conti's are cheaper and will give you 90-95% of the performance of the PS4S. I love them and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both sets of tires depending on your budget.
