Stuffing 315/35R20 Right Up The Rear
I see quite a few threads related to this topic, but I still can't seem to find anything directly related to my specific situation.
As the titles says, I want to stuff 315/35R20 in the rear of my 6th Gen. The wheels I've ordered are a set of 20×10.5 (+35mm) in the rear and 20×9 (+30mm) for the front. I'm also still sitting on stock suspension. Will they fit? Any similar setups? The tires I want to order are all season. Not a track tire. |

Okay, thanks guys. So, it seems as if the 315/35 is out of the question. Most likely gonna rub. However, I did come across a website with a calculator and it said a 315 could sit within a wheel at a minimum of 10.5". Maybe a 315/30??? Anyone? Meh?
Lethal garage was able to fit a set of 315/30/20 Toyo proxes and had a +43mm offset and a 5mm spacer. His tires are a track tire, which is not what I'm wanting. And his offsets are different since mine will be +35mm in the back and his are a +43mm w/5mm spacer. His wheel is also bigger (11"). But, does half an inch really make that big of a difference? I think I might just go with a 305 since this will be my first set of aftermarket wheels. Experiment around a bit. |

I'd just get 305/30/20s and call it a day, especially on a 10.5" wheel. A 35 aspect ratio will result in very tall tires, throw the speedo off quite a bit, and I doubt they'd improve ride comfort that much.
My rear setup is 315/30/20 on 11" wheels, and it's just about perfect with Michelin PS4S tires. Had Toyo R888Rs for a short while, they are a bit taller at the same nominal size. Also, and please don't take this the wrong way, but do you really need 315's? Wider tires have disadvantages, too (higher rolling resistance, tramlining, weight), and if your car doesn't have some major power adder, why suffer them for little to no gain, given the stock tires already give you enough traction? Or is it just about esthetics?

A 315/35/20 is 28.7" tall. That's 1.5" taller than an SS 1LE rear tire. What in the world makes you think that would look good? As for a "larger engine down the road," this will not help you with that. A 315/30/20 on an 11" et43 rear wheel is not an unreasonable idea. But a 315/35 is.
