So 2017 - 2018 allows the steering input to be changed but the 2019 and onward doesn't it seems?

Seems like. Any steering mode I manually set on the screen of my 2017 will stay put, regardless of the center console rocker-switch mode setting.

Comp mode is, if you didn't know, putting the car into sport and double pressing the traction button just like you do when in track mode. You just don't get to choose wet, sport 1, etc.
