I’m thinking it’s the coolant temp sensor. Still blows hot air in the car so I do t think it’s the thermostat. Can’t get a part till at least tomorrow as the parts stores near me are all closed, so I’ll find out for sure when I get a new sensor and see if that does the trick.
Any other ideas on what it could be? |

Off the top of my head I'd say the sensor too, since the PCM "sees" an erroneous coolant temp parameter input and runs the fans as a fail-safe.
If it were your dash indicator you wouldn't get a reading but as far as the PCM was concerned, everything is fine....unless, that parameter input is a direct function of the gauge itself...but I doubt that. |

Hook up a scan tool that lets you read different sensors. Coolant temp is pretty basic.
I agree with others, that it is likely a sensor failure. These are typically $10 parts. getting access to replace it may be the bigger problem. This is definitely covered by warranty. |

Sorry guys but I probably should’ve mentioned that I’ve been running a whipple for the past two weeks after getting it tuned by a reputable shop. Had no problems since I got the tune dialed in up to now. Replaced the sensor and am about to take it for a drive and see if the problem clears up.
Ps the sensor was a pita to change without removing the air box |

So just did a little drive around the block after changing the sensor but same thing is still going on. Unless it’s the connector and not the sensor I’m not sure what else could be causing this. I checked the wires and they look in good shape.
Anyways I’ve contacted my tuner and I’ll see what he has to say but any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Small known fact, not one of the coolant gauges in our cars seem to work properly. They never read the actual temps.

I would check with tuner to make sure ECM flash was done correctly. These units change the fan parameters to come on at higher speed earlier. You also get a new thermostat with the installation kit.

Mines is having this SAME exact problem. Fan runs on FULL BLAST sounds like a fighter jet and the temp gauge doesn't move (stays at 160). Took it to the dealership, bingo temp sensor was shot. Confirmed by the tech the car runs the fans full blast to protect against overheating since the car cant read the temp.

Just had to order a coolant sensor as noone in Georgia has it in stock. Will replace and hopefully it will be this simple. Same symptoms. No reading and full blast fans.
