I've had my Porter Cable 7424 for 15 years. No issues, no maintenance.

Thanks
I have narrowed it down to a flex or Rupes wish I could try both before I purchased and try the Rupes 15 vs the 21

The Rupes polishers have literally no vibration at all, which make them very comfortable to use. The 21 will cut a little faster than the 15, and you'll need to buy a separate backing plate for the 21, because it comes with a 6" backing plate, not the 5" you need. Now I have the original Rupes 21, so I'm not 100% sure the newest model can accommodate a 5" backing plate. Also with only a 5" pad that you can use on the Rupes, getting into some of the smaller areas is impossible. The Flex can accommodate a backing plate that allows you to use 4" pads. Also with the Rupes, you need to do the KB washer mod to get the best performance out of it. If you are only planning on doing your own car, I'd still recommend the GG 6". You can get the same results as the Flex and Rupes can, only it will take longer.

Joe thanks for all the info. I think if I go with the flex or the rupes I will get a nano long neck as well. Since you brought up the pad issue and the washer mod I now have to factor those conditions into my choice. I was leaning towards a rupes 15 mark III but now may go with the 21 with the nano as well.
These would be just for my cars (5) and maybe a friend or 2 and my dads as well not mass production but I don't have a ton of extra time so if user friendliness and job quality is not short changed a polisher that works faster is a plus.

The extra hold really grips down on the pad, and I'd recommend it over the standard. The new Mark III 15 is supposed to be much better on modern vehicles with curves, and is able to produce a higher OPM, to equalize the cutting ability of the 21, while having less stall on curves. The 15 also has a 5" backing plate, which is exactly what you want. Of course the KB washer mod is still the best idea to stop machine stalling, and increase cutting ability. When the Nano mini came out, I considered it to go with my original Rupes 21, and Rupes 3" mini. After speaking with several professional detailers I know who bought it, they said it wasn't worth the cost, unless you are only doing show cars, which are never driven, and looking for 100% complete correction on the car. There are very few places on most cars my Rupes 3" LHR75E wont get to, and if needed be, I can do those by hand. I'd recommend that you just get a 3" backing plate for your PC, and use it for the smaller areas.

We I have a question again. I have an opportunity for a few more hours to get the Adam's 15mm long throw swirl killer for about $100 (after and Amazon gift card I just got). Would this be a good investment?
