Mustang gets gobbled up by lava

Wow! Glad it wasn’t a Camaro! https://www.facebook.com/CBSMiami/vi...6505310878413/

There is something very primal about watching a'a lava reclaiming the aina.
I had a front row seat when Kilauea reclaimed Kalapana and Queens Bath in the late 80s.
Heartbreaking and majestic at the same time.

It was a lot more tragic watching the R2D2 mailbox being consumed than the Mustang.

Even if it was for a Camaro, still pretty awful for that owner to see their car completely destroyed. Sucks for them and everyone else who may be affected by the Volcano, including the 2 people who have died so far as a result and the dozens who have been seriously injured.

Probably shouldn't make light of a horrible natural disaster, even if it is to make fun of a rival vehicle considering how many people on that island right now are freaking out whether they still have a home or not.

Shield volcanic activity on Hawaii is not predictable, not explosive and generally slow moving.

Leilani Estates was evacuated days ago. No one has been killed here. The tragedy is the loss of home and property.

That lava was moving very slow. The onlookers should have made an effort to save the R2D2 mailbox.

I would just like to add that my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. I can’t imagine living there and having a fisher open up and start spewing lava in the community! That Mustang is just a car that can be replaced. The R2D2 mail box however should have been saved! Lol! Please everyone be safe and if it means leaving a car or 2 behind so be it!

I have a few friends that live in Leilani Estates. So far all are okay and their homes are not destroyed. If your house is burned and land covered with lava you cant even return to rebuild. My heart goes out to all who have lost their homes.
