Made a few passes

My setup is a 2017 Camaro 2SS A8, stock
The tires are 285/305 Nitto NT555G2 on MRR 017 20” wheels.

I turned the T/C off and launched around idle each time.
I let air out of the rear tires to 30 psi after a lot of tire spin during the first run.

My second run was better, not too much tire spin.

What was the DA? 13.7 @ 106 mph is really bad for one of these cars.

The DA at 19:00 was 1166 ft. The poor run probably had more to do with me than the car.

With a little practice, you should be able to get a full 1.5 seconds off your time while adding 8-10 MPH, bone stock. That DA isn’t bad, but if it’s better that will obviously help.

Unless you were letting off going down the track I don't see how your car is only trapping 106 mph. I've never seen one of them trap that low and the DA isn't horrible.

Is only 81mph in the 1/8th a problem to you guys? That seems pretty low especially for an automatic where most driving is taken out of the equation. Unless TC was severely limiting you, your traps should be higher.

Your car gained 25mph in the backend which is normal, but you should be trapping close to 90mph at the 1/8th to give you comparable times to other stock cars.

Thanks for the advice. Your right, more seat time should help me.

No problem! FWIW, I aired my stock rear tires down into the low 20’s and the traction wasn’t bad (when I was stock). Might be worth a try instead of the 30# you’re running now.

You can also try the launch control. It has been getting me consistent 12.4-12.5. I tried launching without it at 1800 and spun bad. Some have said their best times have been from idle and without launch control.

When mine was stock my first pass was 12.05@116, my best pass that day was 12.04. That was on stock run flat tires. DA was about the same and temps in the low 70's. I left right off idle after a burn out in the water box. Those numbers are way off what most of these cars run in the good air. I tried other launches at 1000, 1500 and none were better then off idle flat footing it. Go out and give it a shot again.

Well that's good to know. I will try that next time. My IAT was getting really high and it was pulling some timing too. Next trip I'll throw some Octane booster in, let it cool more between runs and try what you're saying. So it hooks up when you do that?

If the track is prepped and you do a burn out as I did.
