Hood Wrap?

Not sure if anyone has had their car long enough to answer this, but what do you do for cleaning/detailing the hood wrap, spoiler, mirrors (e.g., do you apply any of these sealer products like you might on a painted surface)?

There was a post a few weeks ago about this, a quick search should bring it up. Or just look farther down in the 1LE section.

Spoiler and mirrors are painted. The hood is the only thing that is vinyl wrapped and would require special care. I believe Adam's makes a product that works well for keeping the wrap looking good. FWIW, I've seen some 1LEs that were daily driven for 3 years with no special care given to the hood. You can definitely tell if it has been cared for or not.

Chemical Guy's also has a bunch of matte vinyl products. There's a seal and paint protectant. I recommend using that every couple of washes.

Chemical Guys offer a specific soap for matte vinyl cars, but I don't have an issue with using the Adam's soap for the whole car.

My question for the guys that already have their cars is can we confirm that it is a 3M wrap??? I know the 5th gen was. I'm assuming it's 3M 1080 Matte Black but I want to confirm this so I can match it properly.

I can confirm it's the 3M matte black. I posted a couple weeks ago about my vinyl installer told me to replace it with a satin black 3M as it tends to show everything.

That's tempting. Is it hard to peel it off?
I assume if you want to do it you should do it quick before the rest of a car fades.

As I mentioned in the other thread here, with my 5th Gen hood wrap now that I live in an area where we have soft water all you need to do is wash with soap and water and dry it after. Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Detailer is great to use after washing to make it spotless. If you live in an area with hard water, like when I lived in Southern California, you need to be fast and dry the hood immediately after washing with soap and water to prevent water spots. There will almost always be some even with that method but it will be minimal. I would not recommend any sealants or waxes after cleaning if you want to maintain the matte finish, as they will cause it to shine. The wrap is pretty rugged and doesn't really need any protectants anyways.

It's 2016...between modern paint, and modern detailing equipment, the paint will not fade. Especially if the car is garaged. I removed the side stripes from a Mustang I owned that was five years old, and the paint tone was no different. No worries about that...
