I just hit added meth and hit the 747 rwhp mark and it's a freaking blast!!!!!! I think another 50 hp will do and to me that will be enough for a street beast. I can barely keep it straight as it is.

The 6th gen SS 1LE is a performance bargain. The ZL1 is a loaded bruiser. Can't go wrong with either.

If I could've afforded a ZL1, I'd be driving one right now.
I'm still very happy with my 2SS 1LE. |

I just came from a 2010 2SS M6 to a 2018 ZL1 M6. I must say that in daily driving, the old SS felt more torquey at lower RPM's in city driving. IMHO, you'd never guess that the ZL1 is as capable as it is by just driving around town. To me, the SS had more grunt right off idle.
Unless you just nail the throttle, the ZL1 is a *****cat to daily drive- IMO. However, when you nail it, the ZL1 is a beast. If you're shying away from a ZL1 because you assume it's too much for the road, I can almost guarantee you that you'll change your mind after driving one. It strikes a near perfect balance between civility and obnoxiousness. |

Best of both worlds
I traded in my 2017 SS 1LE a few days ago with 7,500 miles for a 2020 ZL1. Admittedly I actually miss that car like a few of you mentioned. The SS 1LE is an absolutely precious driver that strikes the perfect balance between power and handling. I test drove an older 2017 ZL1 at dealership a few months ago and it was an absolute hoot of a car. There’s literally no shortage of power and torque anywhere in the RPM range. Both cars are absolutely amazing and nobody would be wrong to completely love the 1LE. Now it’s just a waiting game to break this engine in to start enjoying that new ZL1 of mine.

I daily a 2017 ZL1 M6 and absolutely love it...... too much for a daily I'd say no.
I also track the ZL1 and many drivers are faster in their SS 1LE's. Unless you're running Hoosier R7's or slicks the ZL! makes more torque than 90% of drivers are able to utilize. I won't give up my ZL1, but on the other hand I'm not surprised when I'm passed by SS 1LE's either. If budget is a consideration by an SS 1LT and use the delta cost to build your skill via track days so you're laughing you're ass off passing ZL1's. |
