On mine with the Satin Steel body color, I don’t think it looks bad. The body and the rocker sort of sparkle in the sun together. That said, the rocker does not match the front aero or the rear black trim on the bottom. Keep in mind too that the wing is carbon fiber and is glossy compared to the rest of the trim.

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm going to look at the car tomorrow...I think it's otherwise the right car but I'm pretty disappointed that it has this issue.

Those of you that had the repaint done, were you able to dictate the terms of it? Like that the rockers had to be completely removed from the car, which body shop had to paint it, etc?

This dealership is physically connected to a local body shop but reviews are mixed...
Hmm. It is not showing up on my phone either right now but does on the computer.

Let us know how yours looks and how things turn out!

I will try and post some good pics of the Shadow Gray with the gloss rockers when I go look at the car today.

I believe it was the 1st ~92. My car was 1st off the line and by the time it got noticed and reported others were built but not that many. I had to wait on the service bulletin which I thought would be a straight replacement. Not happy about the re-paint so I haven't taken it in yet. Doesn't really look that bad either.

Do the rockers (if ordered separately) come painted in the correct color? I wonder if sufficient fuss was made of they would just replace rather than repaint?

They'll come in primer. Like I said though, if you're ok with your car being down for 1-2 weeks, just pop the rockers off in your garage and take them to a qualified bodyshop and get them painted up. Then you don't have to worry about damage, overspray, poor washing techniques, etc.

Will they still cover that under the TSB? I sure as hell am not paying for it myself.

That's probably what I will do. Don't want my car sitting on a dealership back lot while this gets done.

That will depend on the dealer. If handled properly I imagine it won't be a problem for the most part. I would ask to speak with the service manager and explain the situation. Not all dealers are attached to a bodyshop so they usually work with a local one. Call and see.

Went and saw it in person...frankly I don't like the way the gloss rockers look, they would have to be repainted for me. This dealer doesn't want to work with me on discounting the car appropriately either way.

Car otherwise is amazing and reaffirmed that this is what I'll be buying (first 1LE I'd seen in person).

Search continues.

It was worth a shot. At least you know if you cross another one with the rockers like that you can use it as a bargaining tool as I bet if anybody has them and knows it they aren’t disclosing it.
