I agree it definitely looks better but everyone has been telling me to put a 26 on my car because it will be slower on a 28. I just wanted your opinion.

That's what I hear see people say too but then I look at this.

Fastest Bolt-on only A8. 10.4 @ 128 with a 28"

Fastest Heads Cam A8. 9.97 @ 136 with a 28"

All FI cars running decent times are on a 28"

I suppose a stock geared A8 with light bolton mods can be faster on a 26", especially with roll racing. So it depends on your setup and goals. M6 car would benefit from a 26 the most imo. Even then the top 2 heads/cam M6 cars are running 28's. 28 just makes launching easier and more consistent.

Yeah it makes sense to me also but I have been told by numerous people to not put a 28 inch tire on this car and do a 26. I guess I will do a 28 then.

If you do 26s in the rear and keep the 28" tall front, it's going to throw a stabilitrac light on.

Yeah it will either be 26s or 28s all the way around.

Well I ordered the 17" recluse wheels. The 17" wheels were about $40 each less and the tires were about $90 each less than 18s.

The 26” vs, 28” rear tires comes down to power level & auto or manual.
If your basic bolt on I’d like to see the comparison as I bet a 26” turns better times on the manual cars... I don’t know about the autos

You need 18" in the front ZL1's can only fit 17s in the rear.

Right. I only did the rears. A 17 barely fits the rear and, from my understanding, the 18 barely fits the front. After seeing how good the recluse looks on the back, I really want the matching front now.

Here is why the 28" tall tire works, look at the gear ratios on the A8

Anything will work, it’s what works best for the power level and gearing.
Until somebody posts back to back runs on a 26” vs. 28” at different power levels it’s all whatever works

Well not exactly, you can't put an old 2 speed Powerglide in it with a 1.76 first gear ratio & have a 2.77 rear gear. That is why the A8 has a 4.56 first gear.

Ok... wasn’t really talking powerglide with my reference, lol
I’m more talking about the 95% of people who are full bolt on and at different power level under 500whp & those over 500hp.

I see everyone running 28” but have heard pretty good debates on the reason a 26” could be quicker keeping the car in the power. I’ll find out first hand as I went 26” and have a 28” to try from a buddy as well
