Bullet Resonators or Magnaflow X muffler

Time is getting so close to getting the mods done and i think my last piece is exhaust. I will be putting on 2" American Racing headers and deleting the cats, then go into stock muffler. I don't want it too loud, so i plan to tame it down by either Bullet style resonators or the Magnaflow X muffler. Sound and drone are a concern. As a reminder, i am installing cam and a 2650.

I know many of you guys have done mods and curious to what route you went.

Those Bullet mufflers are really loud. I did a build on a 82 Malibu wagon with a 6.0 back in 2013 and I couldn't stand them after I installed them. I had a wicked 1500 watt system in the car and between the two it was killing my ears. I kept turning up the volume to kill the exhaust noise and had to finally take them off. Can't remember what I put back on but it was nice to drive then. I don't know about the Magnaflows

Bullets do nothing on a set up like yours. The Magnaflow X muffler is the way to go.

If i did the Bullets, they would go where the converters were, but only one on each side, then flow into stock muffler at rear. I know there are different brands and lengths, so i am not sure if any are quieter than others.

I know the American racing long pipes have a X built in, so i would have to do custom if i do the magnaflow X(muffler) instead so i dont wind up with 2 X's OR just a regular dual in/dual out straight thru muffler instead of the X design.

I 2nd that, i put resonators but they didn't help & they scrap on humps so I copied (Sakudog) solution by adding the 3" x pipe & it tamed the sound .

I don't think you will have any drone to worry about with your mods and keeping the OEM muffler. Anything else you add will help to keep it relatively quiet. The OEM muffler does a good job keeping drone at bay.

On my 2" kooks system with AWE cat back exhaust, I went with small 12" resonators where the cats would normally go.
It was VERY loud like that.
Too loud for me.
The next day I had two more 4" x 24" resonators installed where AWE usually puts their resonators.
That helped a lot & I'm happy with it now.
But I would say 50% of owners would still think it's too loud.
I have experience with the magnaflow resonated x-pipe on my Gen 5 supercharged.
camaro.
had the same problem with it - way too loud with just the little 12" bullet resonators where the cats normally go.
Adding the magnaflow resonated x-pipe to it made a HUGE difference. was actually too quite for me like that.
So for someone wants just a bit more sound than stock - go with the magnaflow resonated x-pipe.
If you want a BUNCH more sound, add 4 bullet resonators.
That will at least help on the rasp.

I used the Borla resonator with my headers and borla Stype exhaust. Still loud but a refined deep roar

I have 2” kooks, no cats and kept the oem suitcase initially after my build. Didn’t like the “raspy“ sound at part throttle (some of you know what I mean) so added two small resonators where the pinch in the oem exhaust is near the suitcase. Totally stopped the rasp and I have zero drone. To me it’s actually not very loud... until it’s unleashed. Perfect.
