CircleD T.C for the win/ GPI
For anyone out there still struggling with the A8 shudder etc....Reach out to GPI, you wont be disappointed. They spent countless times answering my questions and working with me on my ongoing project.
I finally made the 7 hour drive to Arkansas from Kansas to have them replace the T.C with a Circle D and tune my TCM. I was blown away with the results. The car pulls like a fighter jet now, highway passes are very fun. They always say that the drive back home from vacation is the worst. I can say that this was the best 7 hour drive home I've ever had. Go check out the team at GPI for all your needs.

3200-3400 stall, I wanted something that was mostly city/highway driving with the occasional trip to the drag. I'm heading back to GPI this winter to do their rods and pistons, cam, ported heads and meth.

Because a PD blower setup doesn't need a lot stall to get moving due to all the added low and mid range torque they produce. Normally when stall speed increases so does stall torque ratio(STR). Higher STR increases torque further on the hit of the throttle at the cost of efficiency...the higher stall converter slips more and takes more throttle input to get moving. So when you floor it, the converter will flash to a higher rpm and hit the tires with even more torque which isn't a bad thing if you can hook it. The problem is all that torque will be a chore to put to the ground.

Thanks for the explanation KingLT1. ScatPack, couldn't agree with you more. I didn't even waste my time going to the dealer. Straight to GPI to get it fixed.

Good move. Going to the dealer for the shudder is really a waste of time. Tune your TCM to begin with and you’ll likely avoid the shudder altogether. Worst case scenario, you go get a great high quality converter like you did from Circle D. Really not a big deal and the A8 has been very solid under boost from what I’m seeing in this board over the past year or so.

Yeah I couldn't agree more. I haven't had any issues with the car since I went boost. Looking forward to more upgrades over the winter.
