ZL1 vs "base" C8 is going to come down to buyer preferences (ie if ZL1 is the faster track car until better C8s come out, track guys will still want the ZL1, people buying a street car might want the C8 more, etc).
The only area IMO the automatic ZL1 (forget the manual car) will beat the C8 Z51 car is the 1/4 mile drag but not 100 % of the time with the C8 winning more often. The high MPH roll racing and road courses that support high speed ( road course stuff is a maybe) will be another strong suit of a ZL1. Short track, 1/4 mile and all the real world street action the C8 will beat the manual ZL1 and give even a auto ZL1 trouble.

My thinking too. I expect a stand-alone dual inject setup with an ignition boost retard control and a clamp on the MAF so the factory ECM never sees "too much" airflow. I would expect a turn-key package:
supercharger, cam, heads, pistons, rods and a "canned tune" for the dual inject. $15 to $25K dependent on parts and labor.

I would expect a 416 CID pack for $10K to $20K that would also fit many people's "needs".

I expect the trans to be able to take this, clutch pack not so much...

I've already noted that gear specific may come with a closer gear pack negating some or all of the "better" Z51 FD gear. Even said we are talking .18 which is what 300 or so RPM... yawn... depending on the first gear shift to second may or may not make much of a difference.

It was not me that said only the Z51 with have "headers". It was somebody else.

Well not 6 figure, but I did expect a MUCH bigger increase on the base. I do like being proven wrong (getting more performance for fewer bucks)

You can only get the morello red interior with LT3, and if you're gonna spend $78k what's another $2-3k

I want the bronze exterior with morello red interior... maybe I can find one used in a few years.

Let's be realistic, the manual is dead PERIOD, it won't even be a question in a few years, sure there will be a few, but the auto or whatever pretends to be an auto will out perform the manual in every way. My M6 will be the last manual car I'll ever get. The Audi, the C8 and are now only "auto". So where are these buyers going to go??? I think it is more bluster than reality....

Porsche still offering manual on the 911 cayman and boxster.
BMW still offering them on M1 M2 M3 M4 and 3 series plus Z roadsters.
Both also offer a automated manual which is better in most ways.

But some drivers still prefer the engagement offered by a manual even if it’s ”slower”
Myself included

Seems there's a lot of people who'd like to see it die. Or at least not care if it does.

Placing any automated transmission's performance potential on a pedestal like that minimizes the driver's part in the whole business of driving. Are you sure, really sure, that that's what you want?. When you stop to think about it, the automatic transmission was the auto industry's first step toward the autonomous car . . .

Me, I'd walk away from the new-car market and go Pro-Touring in a heartbeat. Crate engine, Tremec, and a stand-alone ECU.

There’s a chance i might give a DCT a try, but at some point i have had your exact thoughts. As time goes on this looks like it may be our only option. It won’t upset me that much to have a fun custom car, more so that everyone else just rolled over and took it...

Nope not dead at all. Just go to Europe. Hell the rental car I just got in Greece, there was no automatic option. They were all manual.
