AFM Valve Freik Out

2017 Camaro 2SS. Magnaflow cat back.

Installed Cat Back system. After about six weeks, the NPP valves went nuts (same condition as this). Pulled circuit breaker for NPP. Now three weeks later the AFM Valve is going ape. Happens coming off throttle, idle cruising,so I suspect when shifting into 4cyl mode. See video.

Not sure what to blame? GMs valve actuator or the Magnaflow valves.

1. If I install AFM delete without deleting (see link) the actual valves, will the AFM valves default to open?

This worked well on my 2013 SS A6. I bought the disable module for the breakin period. Dead cylinders don't seat rings.

So then, by over riding them, they do/will default the AFM valves to open?

The ECM is fooled into thinking you always have your foot into the throttle and never engages (disengages?) the AFM program so all 8 cylinders on a V8 are firing all the time. Plugs into the OBD port. Cable not included, but they are cheap on Amazon. If you do buy a RANGE make sure it's for your year and vehicle.

I had good luck, but others had some problems with theirs. Like dead batteries after sitting a week, but you can just unplug it under the dash easily from the OBD port.

Okay, I'll order. Should hold me over until I replace this exhaust. I am not happy with it for both drone and now this. I'll know today if it's a Valve problem with Magnaflow or the actuator itself. Just need to get the car in the air.

Any advice from others would be great too. Thanks friend.

Check and make sure that module keeps DFCO (Deceleration Fuel Cutoff). Otherwise there will be constant pops from your exhaust when decelerating.

My Range AFM disabler turns off AFM but also turns off DFCO. I don't like it.

I switched to i2 Diablo fixed the issue.

The range doesn't tune the car and can be removed without any questions asked by GM, but if that isn't an issue then tuning with i2 Diablo would be the best way to remove the AFM and the DFCO. Kinda pricey for just that though IMHO.

So I think all of these problems are related to my aftermarket exhaust. I dont think the AFM/NPP actuators are properly engaged on the valve cam. They slip off, reengage, slip off... etc.
