New Owner few Issues (I have searched the forums)
Hey Guys, recently picked up a 2011 2SS/RS.
Car drives great, but there are some issues that i have noticed. I did search each individual one, but i could not find a direct response. Hoping you guys could help here. (made an appt to send the car in to chevrolet already). 1. Clutch Engagement Point is very high. - I read online about this and apparently its normal, but mine is at least over 3/4 from the floor. Not new to a stick. 2. Whirring Noise from engine when at low revvs or idle. - The car sat at the dealer since september before i picked it up this week. When i first got it, the whirring sound seemed like it was coming from a worn fan belt or alternator. I think it might be the alternator due to the following other issues. --Interior light dims when hazard lights are on.(When the hazards flash, the interior light dims, when the hazards go off, the interior light brightens) --Engine turn over sounds weak and slow. (Not sure about this, but the engine sounds weak at turn over, and the lights all dim as well at turn over). ALTERNATOR? Thanks again guys! |

I'd have them check the alternator and battery to make sure they are charging properly.

I miss the stock clutch. It is set very high. 20 percent down is usually all it took. Clutch sounds normal. Other stuff not so much

Is the car used? If so, I wonder if the previous owner installed an under drive pulley. It will cause the alternator to turn slower so maybe the battery isn't getting a full charge. I don't know if a slower rotating alternator would cause a whine though! Sounds like the dealer needs to check the charging system! Good luck!

Clutch is normal. Not sure about whirring noise but the dimming of the lights with hazards is also normal as mine has done it from day one. The cars are also slow to turn over, my 93 honda accord would turn over and start faster then these cars.
All in all I would only be concerned with the noise, if you can find someone local and see if theres does it also.

strange, i dont have that lighting issue nor a whine nor a weak engine turn over. i do have a l99 dont know if that makes a difference. i would have it checked out. i have driven in camaros with underdrive pulleys that did not experience any of these probs either.

# 1 normal
# 2 might be pwr steering pump making noise. # 3 and # 4 bad cell in battery! Would be my guess. Take and have battery check.. |

Thanks for all the feedback!
Sent my car back to the dealership i bought it from, and they lubricated some parts and its alot quieter now. No more whirring noise. A battery check was done too, and all electricals are supposed to be fine. That said the car does have a rattling noise now coming from the back, sounds like the exhaust. But i will wait till i send it on saturday to a chevy dealer to check that out. Thanks again. |

Just be glad you're not smelling burnt oil thru the ac vents! please post if you do though as i am researching if this issue has been addressed in the later models. thanks and good luck with that rattling sound, hope they get it fixed for you.
