Cruise Control Fails to Disengage with M6 Clutch

Hello all. Im new to the forum and the Camaro itself. I purchased the Yellow 2016 V6 M6 about two months ago, after trading in my Cadillac CTS. I absolutely love this car!

Anyhow, while traveling down the interstate with the cruise set to 70MPH, I disengaged the clutch, downshifted and moved into the slow lane to exit. When I let out the clutch, the car surged forward as the cruise did not disengage. This seems very strange and dangerous to me. Is this normal or is there a safety switch not functioning? I repeated this again to see if it was a fluke and it did the same thing

I have ridden motorcycles for years and currently have cruise on my 2014 Yamaha FJR1300. When you pull the clutch, the cruise automatically disengages. This seems very logical as a change in gears would suggest an effort to slow down or speed up - not maintain a fixed speed.

Anyone experience this? Thanks.

normal.. a feature I like. you can upshift or down shift and the cruise control resumes.

I don't use cruise control; I think the point is to actually drive this car, but wow, if true, this is the first vehicle I've had that doesn't cancel cruise control when you step on the clutch. Not sure if I like that idea.

This is true.

I have cruise on 2015 Triumph XCX and it disengages as well.

I didn't like it at first because I was used to using the clutch to cancel cruise (no brake lights), and we don't have a cancel button, but now I love it being able to downshift for hills with the tall 6th and not having to reset cruise.

Cancel is just the middle button on the cruise control pad.

That's true for your heated steering wheel, but us non-heated wheels do have a dedicated cancel button.

Also on Page 244 in your owners manual it talks about the 5 ways to cancel cruise.

*light press on brake pedal
*several seconds push of clutch pedal
*on automatics, shift to N
*Press the "X" cancel button (non-heated wheels only)
*Turn off the cruise entirely with its power button (gauge with arrow)

My experience with the 1SS was just like above:

Short, quick shifts did not deactivate cruise...but if I held the clutch for about 2 or more seconds, it did disengage.

Are you stating the Owners Manual might be right?!

Thanks! Yeah, not necessarily a bad thing but it really caught me off guard. It was at a cloverleaf overpass and I had downshifted to tuck in behind a guy trying to merge onto the interstate so I could exit behind him. The sudden acceleration was a litttle unnerving.
