Mustang G6 Forum
I noticed a thread about the Mustang G6 Forum on the general forum here. It generally speaks about the bias of the members of that forum, and some other choice descriptions...lol. Anyhow I decided to check out the forum myself and I must confess ignorance is truly bliss!! There is one thread, for instance, talking about mustang vs. camaro sales, how camaro sales are slower, and one guy attributing that to the fact the camaro 6 is simply not that much different than the camaro 5. Are you kidding me? it's a completely different car?!? Candidly, I like the mustang, and was seriously considering getting one until I saw what they did with the new Camaro. My decision effectively came down to wanting a true super sport vehicle, and not a grand touring vehicle. That, in my view, is the key distinction between the vehicles. Anyhow, I encourage my fellow Canadian friends to check out the Mustang G6 forum for shits and giggles, and maybe post a thread there praising the camaro to really get them going!

100% agree!
I consider myself to be a "car guy", and not nesessarily a Mustang or a Camaro guy. I've owned 3 Stangs, most recently a '12 GT convertible. And the '16 2SS will be my 3rd Camaro. I'm surprised by how many Mustang guys are on this forum (with Mustang or SVT as part of their handle), who seem to simply be on here to CONSTANTLY compare and trash the Camaro over sales figures and price! It doesn't bother me, as much as I just find it a little strange....

I'll take that challenge, Mustang G6
Here's a copy of my first post on the Mustang G6, which, incidentally, the Pill actually seemed to say the Camaro was truly going to put 5 car lengths on the Mustang by a new Camaro SS. Here's what I posted:
The Camaro6 Forum is live with discussions about your threads concerning the 6th Gen Camaro. I now own my 4th Camaro, but have owned 5 Mustangs. My last a 2008 Mustang Bullitt. These were intermingled with 5 Corvettes and other performance cars. I wish I had all of them back and a place to keep them...there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. Incidentally, I drove a brand new Mustang Premium GT almost back to back after test driving a Camaro 2SS and the Mustang lost it's appeal to me. We live in one of America's greatest car eras and we should be appreciative of the huge improvement we've seen in performance of our brand favorites. We should be giving credit where credit is due. Most of the improvements we've seen were engineered, because Chevy, Ford or Chrysler built something better than the previous leader. I tried to upload my time slip (12.338 @ 112 mph) from my first trek to the dragstrip with my new Camaro, but your site wouldn't let me. So, I have to give you a link to the post I just finished on the Camaro6 forum. You can read my post and see that I didn't get a chance to improve on that run and, to be honest, in two of the subsequent runs I lined up against late model Mustang GTs and both of them beat me for lack of traction. Their time slips showed 12.894 and 12.664 and with traction, I would have easily beaten either of them. So, beat me up if you want to, but here's a link to my timeslip: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...F4+mile&page=5 So, I will wait for the tirade to hit and see what they have to say...should be interesting.

People draw their conclusions that the 6th gen Camaro is similiar to the 5th gen based on pure ignorance, and the fact that some of the retro styling cues are still there. The 6th gen and 5th gen are entirely different down to the bone, bolts, and power plant though.

You know, there were some very friendly comments to my post on the MustangG6 forum and compliments on my post. The "Pill" was even friendly, but I've known him for years and he remembers me for our debates, Chevy vs Ford. At the time I met him, I had a 2008 Mustang Bullitt and then traded it on a 5th Gen Camaro...I loved both of those cars!

Why start another thread about this topic instead of just posting your thoughts about it in the other thread? It makes us look obsessed with them and what they have to say. I would have no idea what they say. Nor do I care to get into a pissing match with them. I currently don't own a Mustang. Besides, there are plenty folks on this forum to disagree with.

I was making reference to a thread in the main forum in this REGIONAL sub forum to get a Canadian perpesctve. Thanks for your enlightening commentary otherwise. |

i found some of the comments in that forum uninformed, so wanted to pass along. i think a little friendly banter among car guys is always fun.. love the debate (so long as it is based on facts).
i actually think the camaro-M4 comparison that motortrend head 2 head did recently is a better comparison and was quite good. love the fact the camaro beat the M4 in braking for instance, despite the fact M4 had $9000 carbon brake upgrade. you need a motortrend on demand subscription to view it but i think they give you a free trial for a week. happy easter everyone! happy easter to all ! |
