I agree that the 1LE would be too uncomfortable for my daily commute.
I am right there with you.

He mentioned the quarter panels were different?

Is that even remotely true?

It was a good video. I bought the T-shirt since I am a T-Shirt'oholic...one of each. They went on sale yesterday he said. The regular ZL1 is good enough for me. I have "tamed it" some. Taking the same corners over and over gets to be so much fun and getting better times each time.

To further emphasize that point…the 6th gear in the manual transmission has been revised to better suit the car’s track focus. In the standard ZL1 manual it is a very tall obviously-for-fuel-economy gear. In the ZL1, it’s been swapped from a .536 : 1 to .675 : 1. With an unchanged axle ratio, what this means is that mathematically…the ZL1 1LE should be able to hit 200 mph in 6th gear, at 6500-6600 rpm, where the standard ZL1 manual could not. However, on the highway, the engine will be spinning at 2300 rpm at 70mph (compared to 1800 in the standard ZL1).

Here is the link from C6 for the quote

Chevy not that crazy to kill fuel mileage like that. Just saying
That makes more sense. Even my 6 cylinder FWD car doesn't rev that high at 80mph though close.

Its definitely not right. The ZL1 1LE is using the C6 ZR1 gear ratios. Final drive is different on Camaros, but it works out pretty close. I've actually had both the standard ZL1 and the 1LE 6th gears in one of my C6 builds. The regular 6th (works out to a .50 with a 2.66 first gear) put me at about 1800 rpm at 80 mph. The ZR1/1LE 6th (works out to .64 with a 2.66 first) put me at about 2200 rpm at 80 mph. Still very livable.

Doing the math, the 1LE should be doing about 2500 rpm at 80 mph. About 2200 at 70. I wouldn't call that a huge deal.

And to those who asked why GM changed the 6th gear -- its obvious if you've done any high speed events in a car with these two gearsets. There is a huge rpm drop from 5th to 6th in the regular ZL1. This makes the top of 5th the car's top speed. The 1LE gear allows 6th to be usable as a performance gear and raises the top speed significantly without sacrificing much in fuel economy.

Great review, always love seeing this car haul ass down public streets.

His preference was the GT350R because of the N/A and high rev, I can respect that decision.

My guess is yes, as the rear tires are 325's. I doubt they want the tires bulging out.

2:48 gives you an idea as to how stiff the sway bars are. you can see it lift the driver front tire as he is pulling out.

To be fair my SS doe's something similar turning into my garage. The chassis on these cars in general is very stiff.

I don't mind Matt's reviews but I can't stand when he reviews Camaros. It's like he's afraid to admit when he truly likes one. He always has to follow a positive comment with a negative. Whereas he'll generally dismiss most negatives when it's a mustang......or a focus.
