It's specifically for glare on track days. When it is sunny you don't want light reflecting in off the bright shiny painted hood.

looks like crap, reminds me of someone that bought a hood and couldn't afford to paint it.

No problem. Read it in an article. Randy Probst may have mentioned it too.

Wow...looked this up and it's true. There is a POINT to the black hood and it makes perfect sense. Thanks.

+1

I don't really like it personally, especially with the carbon hood, it looks like the hood was taken off of a different car.

I'm leaving mine on, you know it's going to have marks (small rocks) in it sooner or later and will need to be redone. Now, if I can Suntek this matte wrap, I will.
You can, at least xPel has a matte PPF that I plan to use on my hood and other matte parts. Not sure about Suntek.

Thanks for confirming it for me! I want to stand out from other Camaro's! Plus it has a function and purpose.

In the end it's your car. Do what you want. There is a guy in the area with a V6 1LE that peeled it off. The hood looks fine underneath if you take your time removing it.

Personally I like the black but do think it would be better if it was more of a semi-gloss than the matte color. I get the reasoning for doing it but i would still prefer a little more shine.

Thanks RED, I'll have the installer look into XPEL for the matte PPF.
