Pros and cons of 20’ to 19’ wheel

I currently have a set of 20’ oem zl1 wheels and am looking into getting a set of 19’ wheels. Are there any significant benefits or drawbacks from doing this? Most likely going apex wheels if that matters at all

You will find a better selection of tires with 19”

19" provide a higher sidewall and better isolates shock from road cracks, bumps, irregularities. Still provdies enough sidewall stiffness (at least Conti ECS do, can't comment on other 19s) for good steering response and feedback. 20" is best for carving corners, but I think the 19" is worthwhile tradeoff.

You'll also find there are more tire sizes in 19" than 20" (at least there were 3 yrs ago when I bought my Apex 19s as my DD set).

You can get 19" wheels that are lighter at usually a lower price.

Supercar 3 tires are impossible to find in 19"

I Remain 20's for this reason.

If you keep the same sidewall ration you will actually have less sidewall and less cushion but you can run a slightly taller sidewall ratio to correct. both can change your speedo reading slightly.

smaller wheel with same sidewall does result in lower gearing/more power, but also affects shift points if you track/race. some tracks get better, some tracks run into issues.
