Road racing and high horsepower

Hey everyone, what tires setup is everyone running that is road racing and in the 800hp range? Is 800+ too much on a road course? I have a hard time getting traction out of turns and into straight always with the 720 to the wheel that I currently have now. And would like opinions on how to get traction with more horsepower. Thanks for any help.

R888R's seem to be the go to. I run PS4's but I don't road race.

keep the boost near stock or you will have cooling issues as your post supercharger temps will soar. Ask Jannetty about his road race setup which keeps boost near stock and uses flex fuel, headers, throttle body, and tune to make safe hp.

SC3R
Cup 2R
Hoosier R7
Michelin Slicks
Pirelli Slicks

That probably encompasses your best options for the road course

Cooling issues even with my Magnuson? I’m already above stock boost numbers and my IATs are better than they were stock.

I have the 1LE stock rims and tires, I do love the SC3R but they take a long time to warm up. I guess take the good with the bad. I appreciate the suggestion ramair.

I also run the 19" 1LE wheels. I've been satisfied with SC3R, but stepping down to 18" wheels open up a lot more tire options, especially take offs which can save a bit of coin. And I'm sure slicks will hook up better than any DOT radial at your power level.

With 800hp, nothing is really going to hook on a road course and quite frankly imo, unless you are a professional driver, is probably too much. My basically stock ZLE its about right and I only want more power when the temps get high and it pulls power. I am close to near supercar lap times at a few places and yes more HP would help, but I am talking 50-100hp, not 200-250. If I had 200 more HP, I am pretty sure my lap times would be slower than what I have now.

I appreciate the input Ken, my worry is my car with that type of power will be restricted to just the quarter mile drag strip, although fun, I still want it to be fun to drive on the road racing course as well.

I've got several hundreds of laps in my ZLE around road course and honestly, I think that I would only want more horsepower in 4th and 5th gears. If there's a way to tune boost by gear I'd up the boost only in 4th gear and 5th gear. Otherwise, the car is pretty much at the horsepower limit in 1-3 gears. It spins up those gears even in stock form. So there's no point in adding more power there. 6th gear is rarely used.

Sorry...I didn't see the supercharger upgrade in your sig. You will probably be fine with cooling but log a session to confirm. Watch oil temp keep it less than 300°F if possible. You can use a higher numerical gear exiting a turn to help with traction. Once you get a few laps into a session the tires will "come up to temp" your traction issues will be minimal. Use PTM mode Sport 1 to keep your off corner traction in check.

Since the R888R's were mentioned, aren't these more of a straight line performance tire as opposed to a road course?
