I think you hit the nail on the head. I have been running Kooks high flow cats for 15k miles without issue. I haven't dynoed my car, but based on several, virtually identical builds that Ted Jannetty has done, I'm just under 700 whp on 93 and 725ish on e60. I'm really surprised that my cats are still alive. I have done at least a dozen track days on fast tracks.[/QUOTE]

I would if never known if I didn’t take exhaust apart or use my scope to
Check.

Not many people inspect their cats with a scope or pull exhaust apart after installed. Have you?

Hopefully these gen 2’s continue to hold up on the bigger power stuff. Be nice to have an option to keeps cats on them.

I've had my exhaust off for various reasons, at least 4 - 5 times since going FI and I've always made a point of checking the cats. They have looked fine every time. It has been awhile since the last time I checked. I'll take a look the next time I have the car off the ground. I know the cats have to be on borrowed time, but I'm not replacing then until I have to.

That's encouraging. I always run e60 on track. I imagine that has helped keep my cats alive.

Probably helps.. None of mine that went bad were melted etc. What was happening was the material itself was bending inwards. I think its more on exhaust flow volume then any heat issue.

Knock on wood, these GEN 2's show no signs of failure...

I tried to get startup and revs but my phone kept going into overheat mode lol.

There’s few other videos there, but that’s with kooks/green cats and no resonated mid pipe.

Edit: cooled enough to get 1 minute of video without my phone exploding.

Do you have any updated links for the above videos? I was hoping to hear this combo.

Just an observation here as I’ve dealt with a similar situation on a completely different car. The cats you showed earlier that had essentially coned forward are a inexpensive wound (cone wound design). If you look at your updated Cats you can see that the cats are wound like a yin and Yang symbol. This effectively locks the windings and prevents the likelihood of the cone slippage.
As I am new to the LT-4, I am curious if elevated hp levels are destroying the stock cats? Is this the reason for swapping out the OEM cats?
My experience with higher hp NA applications was that OEM cat cores were far superior to any aftermarket units when properly modded with new inlets and outlets. Thanks for your time.

He has aftermarket headers on the car, so the OEM cats are not an option without fabrication. I doubt they could handle the amount of horsepower his car is making, though. But I am no expert on that.

Thank you for the reply, however I did say factory cores with modded inlets and outlets. Again this is my experience, OEM cores are OEM for a reason, they are far higher quality than aftermarket products.

I asked the same question a while ago. General consensus was that some heavy track use LT4 and LT5 cars have blown out the stock cats with completely stock engines.
