Chronic CEL
I have a 2017 ZL1, 10 speed, totally stock, i’m trying only owner. 19,xxx miles.
I have been loving the car, but for a few months now (Since October) The check engine light keeps coming on. If I am being very picky and really paying attention I would say that throttle tip in is not quite as smooth when the light is on, that is about it, it runs fine, revs fine, makes boost etc. Onstar does not see it on their scan It has been back to the dealer many times for varying lengths of time. They have reset it and sent me on my way, they have changed the mass air flow sensor, they have changed the ecm, they have driven the car 50-100 miles here and there, and the light only seems to come on for me. Most of the time the light comes on when I am heading to the freeway either from home or work, meaning under light/no load, sometimes warmed up sometimes not, it has come on while cruising on the freeway once. My SA says that the gm regional guys are involved and they have ‘escalated’ it. I was supposed to drop it off on friday (i finally demanded a loaner) but on my way there the stopped me and said the gm rep was backed up for a week or two and that they would call me when I can bring it in. I am in the CA Bay Area, so elevation is pretty close to sea level, and does not have wild swings. sorry for the long post, and thoughts are appreciated. |

Purchase an ODB2 reader and try to scan when the code comes up.

The very first and most important tool any modern car owner should have in their toolbox is an OBDII reader.
$15 and free android Torque app and you are informed prior to a) posting on forums and b) going to the dealer. |

sorry, this is my first Chevy, I didn’t know I would need a code reader.
I am dropping the car off right now. Some things I like to tinker with, a new car that is still under warranty is not one of those things, if this persists I’ll get a reader just out of curiosity. I did a search, and didn’t find anything like this, and when the car was brand new the forum was able to diagnose a ‘clunk’ in th front end before the dealer could even look at it. Either way, I’ll update here when a solution is found, maybe it will help someone else. |
