BlaqWhole you sound like a fanboy fabricating and wishing mid 12 ETs when the very few public videos and posts from the 18 are showing high 11s low 12s at a higher mph than the very best hero runs of the gen 6 camaro. Its wishful thinking at best, delusional at worst.

I think we will see more high 11sec slips once more cars hit the streets. I assume many will start to populate the m6g fastlist and fb lists... so we will see those.

The good thing is that the 6gen, Mustang, and Mopars are closely matched cars now and that makes it better for all of us(with the exception of Mopar owners because we all know they can't keep up once mods start )
Off topic (much better discussion anyway), loving the pic of the new ride. Would love a GS, makes a great deal considering the current rebates on leftovers.

Shame their is such a poor selection of aftermarket for the Mopars and no real gains to be had. Not like modding a Coyote or LS.

The revisionist history considering how the 5.0 gen 5 mustang stomped the gen 5 camaro in peformance and the camaro has a checkered history and went into almost permanent hiatus for half a generation due to lack of interest and sales is amusing. The camaro exists because of the Mustang not the other way around. The Mustang aftermarket is far more expansive.

When I posted factual information about all the issues that plagued the S550 then none of that was legit. And when we express doubts that the 18 will be faster then we're all fanboys and bench racers and crying and panicking and scared. Is that right? Because it sounds like you guys should really be on a Mustang forum. Oh wait, you all are. Well this here ain't a Mustang forum and it won't be one no matter how many trolls swing over here.

There is nothing the 18 GT is doing or can do that will impress me. It would have impressed me in 2015. But not now. And that is even if it does manage to beat the SS (which it won't). The fact that swarms of trolls are coming over here trying to tell us how impressive they think the GT is just proves how desperate they needed this upgrade. Now what would impress me would be it any Mustang was on the level of the ZL1. But they are not nor will they be until the GT500 comes out and who knows when that will be. And by the time that happens this level of performance will be old news too, lol!! They'd have to put it in the low bottom 11s high 10s, have it handle on par with the ZL1 1LE, come in at $70K or less, offer crazy options, and throw an auto trans in it by the time it comes out just to be impressive. So no matter how long this thread goes on and how many people come over here and how many tuners and testers do this or that, it isn't gonna impress me because it should have been done years ago.
I'm just glad that Ford finally developed a s550 GT that will beat my 2014 GT in the 1320.

Congratulations on catching up to the Camaro. You know where else it has caught up and even surpassed in some ways to the Camaro?

Price.

2019 model year is coming soon, and the Camaro gets the A10 (extremely likey) which, if anything, gives Camaro the advantage again (since it has the TQ and weight advantage already). If there does happen to be a power bump (doubtful) will your world fall apart?

This is just plain silly.
Me being a 1/4 mile GM guy, I will say Mustang has caught up and then some. Concerned? you bet I am.

Some people hear understand that and realize the Mustang keeps a better Camaro coming their way.

Fake as hell...you Mustang guys love to call people out about racing just for some of you to not be able to prove you even own a car. And Honda? LOL! Man, you make bench/dyno racing look easy. You must do it a lot. lol

The times are in my sig. I'll post slips after you produce something.

PS. Or.....Feel free to ask Merc (keeper of C5 & C6 fast lists). I've been with him at the track a couple of times.

Unless you think Merc is a liar too....

LMAO!!!!!

1.) There are two reasons why the Camaro wound up discontinued.

1a) Being diluted between Pontiac as the Firebird/Trans-Am and Chevy as the Camaro. This was a vehicle that routinely sold between 85-105k cars a year if you added them both up.

1b) The Mustang is Ford's Halo car. Has been pretty much every year for the last 50 years. GM for a long time refused to improve the Camaro to the level that the Corvette was at. Now, that is no longer an issue. And Ford is no longer being given an easy win.

2.) There was never a lack of interest. There is a reason why the 5th Gen outsold the Mustang for several years in a row, because of the interest owners had in the car. I specifically bought a 5th gen instead of a Mustang or a GTO or a CTS-V because I wanted the Camaro. The problem goes back to the fact that GM was trying to shutter unproductive brands....which goes to seeing Olds, Pontiac, Saturn, and Hummer go bye bye. Not to mention, the plans for a retro Camaro were already in the works when the Camaro was discontinued in 2002.

Plus, GM made the mistake of badging the Monaro as a GTO. Had they badged that as a Camaro, I still say it would have sold better...

3.) Yes, the Mustang helped create the Camaro, there is absolutely no denying that. However, I'd argue that the Chevy II helped to create the Mustang. The popularity of that small car with bigger power helped create a desire for cars similar to it. In addition, the Plymouth Barracuda actually predated the Mustang as well.
