Simple Tire Trailer - First attempt
Thought i'd share with you guys my attempt at building a tire trailer. So far no issues at super happy with the result. Not the best setup compared to the custom builds I've been seeing, but no issues and pretty good weight balance fully packed.
Trailer is the standard aluminum harbor freight most use with simple with wood base and bunch of home depot mounting hardware. I added metal weather proof box up front to help with tongue weight and tool box and fuel jugs with a small ice chest in the middle secured with straps. |

Absolutely love this. I have been considering doing the same with a HF trailer. Which trailer hitch? And did you have to cut the bumper or diffuser at all?

thx , definitely worth the effort if your willing to do it. CURT 11900 1 1/4 hitch is what i used direct bolt in but you do have to trim a few inches from the very bottom of the bumper, but honestly not really noticeable straight on and from above can't see at all. If i removed the hitch i doubt anyone would even notice the part that was cut. |

I love these setups with the little trailer I really thought about this as an option but I ended up getting a car trailer though so I'm looking forward to using that in the future. It should be much better to drive to and from the track, also gives me the ability to go to tracks much further away. This is a great option for opening up the ability to use slicks on the track though.
Now I have a real life trailer, a camaro and a BMW that can't pull the trailer, need to sell the BMW and get a tow car(probably a touareg) |

Good Job!!!
Nice job!!! I know I enjoy mine https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...t=tire+trailer . Looks like most of the weight is towards the back of the trailer like you want. I would make sure you use trailer tires with M rating (81 MPH) or HIGHER. https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Tra...nd_Wheels.aspx

Interesting, never looked into these because i never thought of replacing the tires. Might switch to these before the next road trip. Just makes sense really. |
