Do you mean the oil life monitor was at 2%? If so, that has nothing to do with the oil level. Did you check the oil level before and after adding oil?

The oil life monitor won’t change until you reset it. You don’t reset it until you change the oil. It has nothing to do with oil level. Don’t drive your car until you check the oil level…….it’s probably way over full if you added 4 quarts without draining any.

the oil life monitor is based on usage + time. i'm guessing you're coming up on a year, which means you should change it anyways.

So, did you drain the oil before adding the 4 quarts? If not, you have a big problem. Check the oil level on the dipstick or have someone do it if you’re not sure how to do it.

The ONLY way to measure your oil level (quantity) is with the oil dipstick under the hood, there is nothing on the dash that indicates oil level, only "Oil Life Remaining".

As others have said, you are VERY likely WAAAY over full on your oil now, do NOT start your engine until you get the oil level proper.

It can’t be fine. No way was it 4 quarts low before you added the oil. It’s probably 2”-3” above the full mark on the dip stick. Don’t start your car!

This is the craziest post I've ever read here. Either your oil was incredibly low before or it's about to overflow now.

I would suggest taking your car to a shop to do this for you.
