Build Date

Is there any way of determining my car’s build date other than GM customer service. I’ve been trying for 2 weeks and getting no reply from GM. I’m having Chris Frech do a fuse cover plaque and he needs the build date. I bought the car used.

You can get your build sheet by sending you VIN to socialmedia@gm.com ... It will have at least the month your vehicle was built (which is what Chris put on my plate).

Ok.. I just literally got done doing the same thing.. I found a GM pdf that explained a lot of the info but can't determine the exact date of mine.. And please connect me with gentleman your talking about that does the plaques. I want one!

I did get a response from socialmedia@gm.com within a few days, they sent me the build sheet and it contained the exact manufacturing date, see here. It's strange they aren't responding to you... just an idea, but you might get more traction if you also try the chat on the main Chevrolet page.

On my 5th Gen it was on a sticker lower in the engine bay, behind the radiator on left side. Dunno of 6th Gens have it there too, very tight engine bay.

I just got the email back from GM with my exact build date! Finally!

Used the email and chat. Got both one day apart. Format and detail as well as readability far better from GM email than the chat tool IMHO. Glad you got reply. And think the box cover thing is a nice detail to get. Post a pic?

Got mine this morning after requesting it last night.. Perfect... Very fast... Now to get the plaque ordered hopefully..

Call the service dept and ask them to run a VIS with the last of the VIN. It will tell you the exact date and all the option codes a car was built. Or send me a PM.
