Thankful for Google Maps which is already available. I'll try Waze when it's Carplay update comes out. I know for one that the Google Maps Carplay app looks very similar to Apple Maps (which is probably one of the reasons Apple finally let them in to Carplay) but of course the actual maps and data is Google-Accurate. It's nice being guided exactly where you ask it to take you versus Apple taking me to an open field.

The big difference is the actual satellite view in google maps. A lot nicer and more accurate.

Glad Waze (and Google Maps) will be available on Car Play. Soon it won't matter which phone I have with me when I get into my car..

Now...can someone sell me a magic, dual-tipped USB cable so I don't have to unplug my music thumb drive in the center console?

I've tried one that works okay. It has magnetic, interchangeable tips for USB-C and lightning connections, but the magnetic connector is not strong and bumps/jostling of phone separate the connection too easily and too often.

Ideas...?

I am just now discovering how awesome my android interface is. I was showing off last night how I plugged in my route with google maps, picked my music on Pandora, and then called a friend....my wife asked if her apple can do that in her 15 Yukon.... I told her I didn’t know, but that I was forced into figuring out how to use car play after I couldn’t find the slot for my Trace Atkins CD....lol

As of the latest Google Maps update it is already on CarPlay

I don’t know anything about a “music thumb drive”. I didn’t think people still did that.

I've got a tiny usb drive full of mp3 files (32 GB) plugged into one of the two USB ports in the center console. This is common and, essentially, replaces the CD slot someone mentioned above.

Beyond streaming services or radio, this is the only way to hear audio content in the car. When you're out of WI-FI signal range on a road trip, it's the only way to go.

Of course, people still do that! Unless you prefer to grab an old portable CD, cassette, or 8-track player, throw it in the passenger seat, and listen to it over it's built-in speaker or through the aux audio port.

I don’t think the waze maps is out yet.... it was just in beta mode. Correct me if I’m wrong but there hasn’t been a release just yet.

The latest update of wade now allows apple carplay!!! I just used it this morning on the way to work. Worked perfectly. You must update the wake app on your phone though.

Thanks I didn’t see the update. I just updated. Gonna try it after work. Does it tell you where the cops are and all other warnings you would get using the app only?
