Subjective - Best Exhaust Set up Incl. NPP with no drone

All,

I am trying to find the sweet spot with regard to in cabin sound experience and of course out of the tailpipes.

What is the best exhaust setup (that does not include headers) that gives one an eargasm inside and outside the car that includes the following -

- Stock NPP Axle back
- No Interior Drone

The headers route will most likely void my warranty which is a no go.

Let's discuss.

I think your only option, and what you're looking for, is to delete the secondary cats by installing an aftermarket mid-pipe like many have done with the Borla 6060(I think). I believe Corsa has one too.

There is a thread on this, retains warranty as secondary cats don't throw a code so no tune needed. Adds sounds, but nothing crazy and no drone has been reported yet.

Good luck!

Thanks. Would appreciate a link to the specific model part for the ZL1.

I hope it is worth it.

I see you're in Bel Air, as am I. I'll be installing the Borla ATAK Catback (NPP) on my ZL1 second week of March. I'm keeping the secondary cats though. You're more than welcome to hear it to see if it's loud enough for you.

Borla and Flowmaster NPPs don't drone w/ valves closed. I like AFE too but don't know what it sounds like in quiet mode.

Removing secondary cats will make the sound more raspy, I wouldn't do it without adding a resonator.

I ran a Borla 60606 (secondary cat delete w/x-pipe) from stock exhaust to OEM muffler. There was some drone and it was too raspy for me. So, I included the Borla 60608 (resonator) which eliminated the drone and rasp and made the exhaust a little deeper.

Overall, a little louder than stock and a deeper note.

Borla S Type--retain primary and secondary cats. Awesome sound, no drone, and keep NPP Valves.

Just finished a stainless works catback last night, but didn’t get to drive. It retains valves, but i have no idea about drone yet...I’d venture to guess little to none, but will know soon.

Flowmaster American Thunder w/NPP catback here (retained secondary cats). Deep, aggressive tone, slightly louder than stock, no drone even with the fuse pulled at highway speeds. Next step is going to be a secondary cat delete.

I am buying a low mileage used set of these SW axlebacks with NPP and wondering what they sound like. You probably are eliminating any resonator that might be OEM and the crunched convertible over the axle pipe. I look forward to your experience.

i only have one little clip testing the valves, I'd had the fuse out for awhile and just wanted to make sure we were completely done before i pulled it off the lift. i will likely make a thread when i can get some more video and experience, but if you want what i have now just lemme know.

Hey Baltimore guys, it's not time for you to come out and play yet... get that car back in the garage until late April

Isn't that the TRUTH!

I'm just hoping for a couple 50+ degree days in March, at the very least.
