How to protect Exposed carbon hood insert

What is the best way to protect the Carbon weave hood insert? I know it scratched easily and you are not supposed to wax it. Would it be better to Expel wrap it or ceramic coat it? Who has done done one of these options? Thanks!

Can’t wax it? The owners manual is incorrect. Wax, Seal, Ceramic and XPEL to your hearts content.

From Glen E: “It comes from dealers using the poly glycoat type coatings of the 80s and 90s that didn't work very well and GM had a problem.

You can seal/wax the carbon fiber all you want, what you shouldn't do is use a cleaner wax or a very strong rubbing compound/polish, just wipe it down with alcohol/water and put on your favorite sealant or wax.”

Yes. It specifically says on page 41 of the HP Supplement not to wax it.

My Expel installer has the plotter to make the cuts.
This particular piece had cut outs for the emblems.

Polished mine by hand with Essence, and ceramic coated it. No issues, looks amazing.

Mine’s painted, but my film installer pulled the insert, removed the emblems and wrapped the film so no edges are visible anywhere on the hood or insert.

Mine is covered with Suntek film. Installer removed the ZL1 emblems and applied new ones over the film.

I don't know why you couldn't wax it, it's clear coated. I have mine wrapped with ppf
