Then 5.5L DOHC Twin Turbo making 800hp, with 200hp electric motor assist to the front wheels.

1000 freaking hp total!

C7 and C8 built at same time, slowly ramping up C8, slowly ramping down C7.

No more front engine Corvettes after a couple years.

No manual trans in C8, Tremec DCT only.

If links are desired, use Google. Read and enjoy.

And of course, these engines will appear in the 7th gen 2022 Camaro.

That's a lot of concrete info for a car that the manufacturer denies it's very existence.

All of this info falls into about the same category of reliability as when my grandfather would say it was going to rain tomorrow because his knee started hurting. He got lucky and was right about 10% of the time.

Talk to me in January 5.5 months from now, when C8 is shown to everyone.

I've been speculating here for 10 years. Check my history of predictions. Like the 2019 Camaro SS would be based on bumblebee - 1 year before release.

Or, be mystified by a car "that doesn't exist". For 5 more months anyway.

How much HP on the N/A 5.5? Will it be FPC?

Any chance the N/A 5.5 will make it's way into a Gen6 Z/28 (in your opinion)?
If you didn't mis type that a NA 5.5 likely makes 400 hp tops. Don't see much benefit to that.

Rumour has it a 5.5 NA DOHC will be good for 600hp.
Sounds very doable given a crate old LS3 with hotcam is good for a solid 525hp plus a 2 yr GM warranty.
P.S. GM has been racing a 5.5L motor for decades...

Yea, it's not just 5.5L, it's DOHC, four valves per cyl modernness.

Guess we won't talk about the Twin-Charged engines coming after these.
Turbo - Yes. Supercharged - Yes.

The 5.5 liter is due to racing restrictions and its a LTx based engine. People have been claiming the Corvette will have a 5.5 for years.

If GM makes 600+ hp out of a 5.5, it will be like the 5.2 Voodoo, and have no balls down low. That kind of engine will have to be all top end, and rev very, very high. Hell, 600+ is 109 hp/l, while the 5.2 Voodoo is 100 hp/l, and is FPC.

Agree. GM makes close to 500hp out of their racing push rod motor and thats with restrictions. I know this is apples and oranges...but Caddy makes huge torque out of the new 4.2l albeit with turbos...
If this is any indication 5.5 may surprise nicely.
But ya, only time will tell: new power plants are just around the corner and i think thats why we haven't seen any power bumps for 2019MY.

That's what I was thinking.
A 600 hp 5.5 would be something like 350 torque spun up to 9000 rpm.

That's the reason I asked what the HP of the N/A version of the 5.5 would be. If they are targeting in the range of 600HP, it will need to spin to about 8,900 RPM's, which will mean FPC most likely. There have been rumors about FPC for the 5.5, so that would make sense. But, Ford is having trouble with their 5.2 FPC V8 that spins to "only" 8,250. It would be a challenge to make a 5.5 FPC V8 spin to 8,900 RPMs and make it reliable to say the least, and I am guessing it will be expensive if done right.

I am also guessing it will have a dual intake system like the Ferrari's rather than the single intake like the Voodoo. That would mean a different firing order than the Voodoo, and a different sound too. Ford had packaging issues with a dual intake and had to go to single intake, and hence the change in firing order from what you normally see with a FPC.

Fun to think about! Exciting stuff!

What if it was a turbo or supercharged 5 5 instead of a fancy FPC? Or, an electric assist 5.5? Could get 600 hp easy with either forced induction or electric assist.

The 600hp 5.5 being discussed is NA.

The boosted 5.5 is claimed to be much more than 600hp.
