Who all is running 17x11 w/ 305/45r17

I am thinking about taking the plunge and picking up a set of rear Weld S70 in 17x11 and putting a set of M/T ET Streets R in 305/45r17 on them. Anyone running something similar to this setup?

So now just planning on using the setup on the rear to be able to try my luck at the track and for the occasional off site racing.

Am I heading in the right direction? I considered a 18x11 setup with 305/40r18 as well.

Anyone have any input>

You don’t need an 11 inch wheel for those tires. Just extra mass. I ran them on a 9.5. They are good tires and like about 16-18 psi

The Hoosier dr2 in the same size will hook even better and be cheaper and be a good bit lighter. But they don’t last as long

For a manual you should run a bias ply at the track though. That’s the best option

Main reason I went with 17x11 was since I am boosted and around 650-700 hp to the wheels. I also dont want a bias ply since I want to be able to drive on the tires and not worry about them being a bias ply.

I am running this set up on Prostars, the wheels are actually 10.5 though. I am running a Mickey Thompson ET Street R and I drive it on the street all of the time.

Running 17x10.5 Polished Race Star and MT R 305-45-17. I run about 18 psi. Hooks good.

Gotcha. The wider wheel won’t really help anything though. Just slow you down. IMO. Get some front skinnies too for a tenth gain

Sounds like a nice car good luck

Wider wheels doesn't help you hook. Best 60fts have been done on a 275/60/15 15x9-15x10 wheels. Tire compound and side wall height are what matters plus suspension.

Thanks, that helps some. I may stick with the 17x10.5 then. Main deal was wanting to keep the tire height similar to the OEM tire height. I dont plan on going the 15" route as I dont plan on changing out the rear brakes.

I am gonna pass on a full drag pack for now. I am not chasing every tenth, but more so trying to keep from spinning on the MP4S tires at the track or on the Streets of Mexico runs.

I just got 17x11 Forgestars (made by Weld) and using the MT Street R 305/45/17. Heading to the track for first time this week if the rain stays away. Did mount them and took out on back road to make sure everything clears...REAL close w/balancing weight to caliper but good to go.

I'm like you, once in while drag that is 10 miles from house. Will drive there with them on...

Like someone else mentioned M6 cars should run a Bias tire, the reason behind this is to save your axles from snapping when launching. Bias tire will flex and take the stress off the drivetrain. When running a Bias rear you want to run a skinny up front to prevent wobbles on the big end. Just something to think about.

I dont have any plans for hard launching with 4k rpm drops, even so from what I have been reading the 1LE cars have no issues with hard launches on the stub axles.

Well the trigger has been pulled.

Forgestar F14 in 17x10 Et43 5x120 wrapped in M/T ET Streets SS in 305/45r17. Looking forward to seeing how these hook up at the track and on the limited street use.
