7th Generation Camaro to be EV?

considering recent developments at gm and any potential 7th generation camaro launch timeframe coinciding with gm’s road map, will the “final variant of this generation of camaro” be the last of the conventional gas powered camaros? 💩

A performance hybrid might be interesting. An electric Camaro - NO THANKS.

No, the 7th generation will be the of the last gas-powered Camaros. After that, GM is going full electric.

Gen 7 will most like still use the V8 from the upcoming Vette. The survey showed that they might add a Hybrid to compete with the announced Mustang Hybrid. But full electric, I guess that's up the Gen 8.

I don't know, the idea of a Porsche 918 is pretty sweet, so I don't think that's a bad thing for GM to consider.

Short of a global event that forces automarkers hands, like in the 70's. We have a while Before any reasonably priced sports car goes full EV. I can see the camaro going away for a while again before they make a full jump the EVs Its easier to make that work on higher volume crossovers & Suvs. While saving development cost and doing smaller displacement FI V8 like in the MB AMG cars.

If you've ever rode in a Tesla, it suxxxxxxxxxxxxx ass.

We're in the last decade of muscle cars with badass V8's which really really sux.
I don't consider a Camaro a muscle car but they have had a great run with bad ass V8s . I have been lucky enough to be part of a great run and seen them come full circle ,but for the love of speed and performance i can't wait to see what's next. Don't count the future out yet .

EV's aren't quite the slam dunk that many want to make them out to be. There's a lot more to it than just running out and buying the car.

There's a whole laundry list of reasons why this EV crap ain't gonna take off no time soon. Say what you will, but oil still runs shit around here, and will for a long time to come.

Count me among those who are extremely skeptical of the wild claims about GM going "all electric" within the next 5-10 years. I don't buy it. There is zero infrastructure for that and these things don't happen overnight. Also as was pointed out, no shift will occur until gasoline becomes more expensive than electricity.
It'll happen eventually, but it'll be a while longer. 7th gen camaro will have a V8 and a hybrid option. Possibly a full electric in 8th gen. I'd really like to see a full ethanol flat plane crank 6 cylinder at some point.

Electric vehicles right now are cheaper to run then gas and gas will go up. I'm no where near buying a new car but I drove a Bolt and I can see it as long as it can handle like the Camaro. I love my V8 but I can change and the electric cars are fast and there is something to be said about the quiet power. The thought of not going to gas stations or changing oil works for me!! Many of the cars will be charged at night which is easier on the grid and many places lower the per kilowatt rate at night as well.

I used to laugh when I took my kid to his baseball games. Parking lots full of huge SUV's and Minivans yet people still only have two kids. Nothing could be more expensive then that all the while getting what 14 mpg around town??

There are wide open holes in the marketplace for EV's and for once it sounds like GM might not be the last to the market with that idea. It is all about execution. Market needs a Civic type EV. Market needs a "Hot Hatch" EV. Market needs an upscale sedan in the $40K to $50K range. Really could use a SUV EV but I guess the power/range isn't there yet.

I wouldn't mind them moving up to the 48v electrical system and using the alternator to provide mild hybridization. Similar to the Ram's new V8s.
