Charging pad upgrade install for iphone X
has anyone installed the upgraded charging (gen 2) pad for their 2016-2017s? I have been searching for this since I got the car, and found part #84526978 listed as the updated module that should fit our cars.
Just wondering if anyone has installed this yet, had any feedback or tips for the install, and if it really fixes the problem and charges these new iphone 8 and X? Does it come with a new harness? is it plug and play? etc

I just emailed Matt @ ThatGMpartsguy. Let’s see what he says. I trust Matt to tell the true story.

According to Vince @ ThatGMPartsguy, yes that is a valid part number but it is NOT listed as a replacement/Upgrade for Camaro. Seems like it can be used for several models except Camaro, so he could not say it would be an upgrade to our current chargers.

Well, going to take a look - hopefully it might work. I saw this on a GM truck page about the part. Not sure where they got the info. The parts guy I talked to also said the camaro wasnt listed, he said he just installed it on his cruze (I think) and he thought it _should_ work. We'll see
2017-2018 Buick Lacrosse, 2018 Buick Regal, 2015-2018 Cadillac ATS/CTS/CT6/ELR/XT5/XTS/Escalade, 2015-2017 Chevrolet Bolt/Suburban/Tahoe/Volt, 2016-2018 Chevrolet Camaro/Impala/Malibu, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Colorado/Cruze, 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, 2016-2017 Silverado/Sierra, 2015-2018 GMC Canyon, and 2015-2017 GMC Yukon. All listed must have come with factory installed Gen I wireless charging.

FWIW, I've got an 18 with the charging pad and it does not work with the iPhone X. It MAY charge after a few tries but even when it does "connect" it disconnects soon after.
Also, this only ever works if you remove the rubber charging mat. |

From what I’ve found on the internet that part doesn’t come with a new rubber pad for the Camaro...so how does the 8+ or X fit? My wife’s 8+ Does not fit flat on the pad as it is now. Even if somehow this update allows it to charge without sitting flat, take a relatively sharp turn and the phone will go flying off the pad. And removing the pad would leave the unfinished surface under it visible all the time.
