V6 Ice/Snow mode?
My 2011 RS got totalled at the beginning of the month. I'm going to be buying a 2LT 1LE as a replacement. I'd love to get the V8, but it would have to be the 2SS, and I just can't swing the cost. Anyway, I test drove a V6 Camaro with an auto at my local dealer first. Then I test drove a 2SS 1LE and a 2LT 1LT back-to-back at another dealer. I noticed something very strange.
The 2SS 1LE and the non-1LE V6 Camaros have an Ice/Snow Mode setting, but the V6 1LE did not. Why not? If the V8 has it on the 1LE, why not the V6?

I didn't know the non 1LE V6 have a snow/ice mode. I can tell you my V61LE doesn't. Interesting. Gonna keep an eye on this thread. Thanks for posting this.

My 2LT has it. With the M6 I'm not really sure what it does. I assume it alters how the traction control operates.

My 2LT 1LE does not have it.

My 1LT non 1LE V6 had snow / ice mode.
My non 1LE 2SS has it as well. It is kind of odd that it is in the SS and not in the V6... I can come up with a theory fairly easily but I can't confirm any truth to it. My theory is that those purchasing the 1LE model (both V6 and V8) were purely enthusiasts enticed on using the car as intended on a track, sure daily driving would be in the mix as well, but it isn't an intended beater. That stated, I believe the 1LE V6 came out after the 1LE SS. The SS likely had the software and hardware available to keep Snow / Ice Mode probably to a decree derived from the SS. The V6 on the other hand may have underwent a different process and the same hardware / software is not avai -- forget it... I don't know. |

Ice snow mode will make the gas pedal almost unresponsive. Full throttle is same as only giving 1/3 of gas in normal mode. As if you were starting from a lower gear. It helps you not slip.
I won't use my Camaro during winter so no need for that mode.
