headers

Hey guys I have another question. Are shorty headers worth the time and money? And if not what are the best and cheapest way to go for long tubes?

Cheapest are speed engineering long tubes.
Shorties arnt really worth it. I had Holley Hooker Blackheart shorties on my car. My previous PB with stock manifolds was a 12.8 @111. After I installed the shorties I went back to the track, way better weather, lower DA, ran a 13.4. No tune or anything just bolted on.

With longtubes, rcr intake manifold and a tune, way worse DA than my previous PB. First run out I beat my PB and consistently got faster to my current PB of 12.67. If I made another pass I would have beat the 12.67 too.

In short longtubes are the way to go if you can do them where you live.

I looked at speed engineering website and I can't find the long tubes for my car. You wouldn't have the part number would you?

Ebay i think is where people buy the speed engineering headers. Another cheap one is Texas Speed and Performance.

I installed them by myself. Reuse the oem steel header gaskets, take the plugs out prior to working on the car that way you don't crack one or just replace the plugs.

Try Juiced Motorsports. Their website says they have them in stock.

Unless you have catless or high flow cat midpipes, shorty headers aren't really worth any real gain. Long tubes will give you way more power.

I have a used set of Kooks long tube headers and high-flow cats I've removed from my car because I was going to sell the Camaro. Decided not to sell it but I'm thinking about selling the headers and cats. Going to be pricier than the cheapest long tube you can get but they sounded great. PM me if you are interested

I don't think shorty headers are worth it for the money vs power you'll gain.

Limited gain with shorties. I went with BBK long tubes on mine. Pretty reasonable cost. This LS-3 really responds to them according to my ass dyno.

Shorties are a waste of money. Get Stainless Works and be done with it. After you get a tune of course.

FYI, here is my car with the Speed Engineering longtubes (catless) and an x-pipe with stock mufflers.

I went with these. They were about 650 when I got them, but perfect fit and finish and I wanted the high flow cats.
Went with Dynosteve for the tune with the sct x4 tune and lifetime tunes, super happy.
With NPP it's amazing, best sounding exhaust.
