SS 1LE First Time AutoX - PTM Modes?

I am going to be running BS at Marina next weekend. I have never done an autocross or track day. Just karting (KT100) at Blue Max, Dixon, etc. Should I just go out in track mode with all the nannies on, or play around with PTM?

You could start with PTM race, will be too intrusive, best is to turn all nannies off.
I'll be there in a Silver SS 1LE.

BS? Isn't SS 1LE classed AS?

In any case I'd go to track mode, then switch all nannys off by holding down the button until the stabilitrak off light comes on in the dash.

AutoX has no real penalties for getting it wrong and IMO learning to drive the car with the nannies on may lead to some bad habits, even if it may be faster at first.

Even in PTM Race you will get some throttle interference. Track mode if the lot is smooth, sport if it has a lot of uneven surfaces and all the nannies off

That makes sense. Thanks

Congrats on taking out the car. Too many of them sit around in garages.

I would suggest for AutoX, you run with everything off. AutoX really is about learning car control and it's a lot more fun (and confidence inspiring) to do that in a parking lot where your biggest worry is hitting a cone or two.

My preferred AutoX setup is:

Steering in: Tour
Suspension and Throttle in: Track
Then once in Track, hold the button down until both dash lights are illuminated. You are now 'all off'.

I also run with the AutoX calibration in my eDiff, and it is only active when in Track - all off.

Have fun!

Thanks. It does seem pretty stiff in Track.

Steering in Tour makes sense, should make it easier to move the wheel quickly. I think I like Sport the best for general driving, but I will try Tour. Thanks.

I like to do my first couple runs in Track: Race and focus on learning the course and getting the tires up to temp. Once my tires are warm, it's everything off in Track mode. Everything else is too intrusive for Autox..

FWIW, I run my steering in sport. Tour is just a bit too over boosted for my preference but it's just that, a preference. Try both but Sport has the advantage of slowing your hands down if you have a tendency to be too quick with them.

All these people saying turn everything off....I don't think that's a good idea for your first time. Sport 1 is good to get a feel for the track. It's also great for very small tight courses. Once comfortable with that, move to Sport 2, then Race. If you still feel like you're being held back, by all means, turn everything off and try that. Just be careful if there's anything around that could cause damage if you lose control. These cars are amazing and tons of fun. You just have to see what settings work best for you.
