New phone mount??
So I saw this show up in my feed. Haven’t seen it before and seems to be a nice slick low profile phone mount. It was $50 so I ordered one to see how it is

So that metal pad you have to stick on the back of your phone doesn't effect wireless charging or the ability like my S21 to charge another device wirelessley... Seems it would effect both.

They have 2 that do wireless charging and this one that is just a magnet and doesn’t offer wireless charging.

It's pretty slick. Much nicer / better integrated than most of the options out there. However, with Android Auto, I really don't see the need to have my phone mounted. In fact, I keep my phone tucked up below the right knee bolster in a little 3d printed holder that a Camaro6 member printed for me.

Learned the hard way that they do not stand up to summer heat with top down parked at a car show for a full day. Shut closed and no amount of working with heat gun could get them back in shape again.

The only problem with the charging pad is that it's too small to place a phone securely.

I hacked mine but yeah, it's an inflexible design, very large phones still don't fit.

Question - why did the video NOT show reinstallation of the right-hand screw that holds the radio in place?
Bigger question - why are people so willing to stick crap to their expensive phones? lol I agree with @Arpad_m that AA, especially wireless, is the way to go. Put the phone somewhere else. No mount required, especially something that would make you divert your eyes even further away from the road (further to the right) than the dash screen. |

Yup, and here's my $5 "somewhere else" phone net (OP, this will be my last post here, promise I won't hijack the thread any further, sorry).

If you don't want to fabricate, this would fit on the dash above the radio and allow for some visibility, but I think it will look cheesy trying to hide the cable.
https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Char.../dp/B097B25Q2P I am leaning towards a generic charger and then designing and printing a holder out of ABS for the factory wireless location but with sides to actually hold the phone in place. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Char.../dp/B0B2PWGNK4

I have ordered the Course Motorsports DirectFit phone mount with the MagSafe non-charging mount (larger version) and I'm adding a MagSafe case to my iPhone 11 Pro. I also ordered the 0.75" ball extension to give me more positioning options once I get it all installed. I don't know if the MagSafe case will work with my bedside wireless charging, and I'm not sure if the MagSafe case will work well with the MagSafe phone mount. We'll see how it all works.
