Tire Pressure 1SS 1LE

Just got a new 1SS 1LE. Question: Recommended tire pressure 32PSI, yet I live in the desert so 32 in the morning becomes 34-35 in the afternoon when I drive. If instead I keep it at 32PSI when I drive it will be 29-30PSI in the morning. Any suggestion, which is right? Nick

Just look on the sticker on the driver's side door frame. It will tell you the tire pressure.

The recommended pressure on the sticker is cold tire pressure.

So if it says 32 psi, that is when the tires are cold before you drive the car.

You can experiment with it and see if 30 PSI cold would work better for you. If the car rides and handles better and there is no strange or increased tire wear, then go for it.

I do 32 (cold) for daily driving, and about 28 (cold) on track days. Tire-wear and traction are as good as it gets...

I keep mine at 32 psi cold here in NM also which gets them to 34-35 when they warm up for street driving. No issues and tire wear is fine.

Idiots in the service department after my car was delivered to the dealership filled them all to 44psi... And they wonder why I turned down my first free oil change...

Nick, as stated above, don't worry about tire pressures increasing during drives, that's considered as part of the process when establishing ideal cold pressures. Inflate those tires to 32 psi cold and check them before you take off in the morning.

AFAIK the max pressure of these tires is typically 50-51 psi, so this is really about finding the sweet spot for agility, traction, drivability, fuel economy and treadwear, not so much about safety.

I have no words

Maybe they thought the car was going into storage on a trailer straight from the dealership?... but even then they absolutely should've asked you.

Yep as other have said, 32 cold. I run 35 in the rears cold to help with understeer from my larger front sway I have for autocross and obviously can’t change with my staggered stock tires. In my case 32/35 combo actually feels more solid and balanced front and rear as to stiffness and hood ride

I have to set up my fronts around 35 for autoX or I get pretty bad roll-over. I couldn't find 285s though and had to go with 295s, which may be contributing a little. I can get away with less in the rear, no roll-over. But I have to constantly adjust after each run in AutoX, can't let it go above that or I start sliding a lot more. Starting at 32 works pretty good though for me, since my first run is real easy and it only helps to heat the tires and raise the pressure.

Yep. I run 305/30/19 re71s for autocross. Below 32psi cold I was surprised I rolled into the arrows on the front. The rears are fine at 28, plenty stiff there. The hotchkiss front bar no rollover at 28, though I don’t run less then 30 there. That’s with camber -2.6 f and 1.5 r
