dumb question about windows

I am getting my ZL1 tinted tomorrow and the windows unroll about a half an inch each time I open my car, I know they don't want you to unroll them for a couple days AFTER their tinted, is there any way to turn this "feature" off?

It does that so the window won't smash into the seal or worse, the body of the car.

You can disconnect the battery so the windows won't automatically roll, but be very, very careful if you need to open or close the door.

If you are using a competent shop they won’t have any problems handling that. They can make it stick better in that area. I had no issues with it when mine were tinted.

Didn’t have a problem with either my 2016 SS or my 2017 ZL1. The same person did my 2016 when it was new and after I traded for my ZL1 I went back to him to do the ZL1 windows. You can’t let them all the way down for a couple of days or so to give the tint time to fully dry.

And if the tint shop uses ceramic tint then I would advise you to get that tint. It reflects the sun better than regular tint!

Thanks for the responses everyone....I am taking it to a competent tint shop whom I’m sure has dealt with this issue before....I just wanted to know if there was any way to alleviate that problem so they wouldn’t have to worry about it.....and on a side note I am getting the Ceramic tint

The window drops down a bit so it clears the upper seal area before the door opens. When the door is closed, the windows will go up all the way into the seal area to provide a more positive seal when the door is closed.

because of this function, you cannot disable that feature.

I didn't have a problem. Maybe you can leave them just-cracked a bit to "disable" that feature. I don't recall if I did, but if you're that concerned maybe that's an option.

You'll be fine, these tint shops see that feature all the time, and you(the tinter) can lock the switch in the door while he installs the tint and as said previously, they do make that part stick better so when you leave and the window is set to normal it won't mess up your tint.
