Supercar 3r track wear

I have recently has some real issues with my 3r tires with track wear....

The last set of tires the front tires lasted only 1.5 track days with 2000km on them pre track. I thought this was due to running too low pressures. Ran at 26psi and at hot only got to about 32PSI

This set of tires the outside front tire (most punished tire) is delaminating after 1 track day. Not quite to the chords yet but almost. 5 session 20+ minutes each session. Rear tires have no issue.
Started off at 31 pounds and ran hot at 37PSI.

I have the Camaro recommended track spec settings, except for the front where I run 0 toe in order to preserve the life of my street tires (PS4s) when using them on the street.

Way more wear on the 3r's then I was expecting and not only that I really wasn't expecting delamination.

I asked this in the comment section on the Youtube channel "turn in track out" and he said his tires would only last 5-6 session at full-3.5 camber.

I will caveat this by saying that the track is only 2.7KM with lots of turns and is pretty technical track. https://www.hardnoxtrackdayz.com/track-map/

What do you guys think?

I think that’s too low of a pressure. I run 35-37 hot to increase true life and preserve the inside and outside edges a bit more

Could be....I ran 37 hot on the 2nd set though and it's almost worse. Might need to try it from cold even higher then 31PSI

How many days did you get on the fronts?

I can get 3 - 4 days if I play it right (start at 30, rotate side to side every day and Flip on the rim 2 days

How many sessions would that be and the length of the sessions?

I went with 0 toe so that I wouldn't have to flip them. An experience guy on here told me that I should not have to flip them with 0 toe.

Wonder if I should go max camber of -3.5? Most of the miles on the are done on the track anyway. Was worried I would really wear out my street tires if I went too much.

Might not be the worst idea by going to the supercar 3 tires for the front and supercar 3r tires on the rear.

So far I’ve gotten 4 track days, 2 mountain cruises and 3400 miles out of mine. Hoping they last through this upcoming weekend’s track event. I’m going to guess no, but at this point they don’t owe me anything.

thats about 25mts session *4 per day or 20*5 per day. The fliping is not needed if u are getting even wear - i dont - even with -3.5 camber i still get outside wear and hence i have to flipt.

about the same, trying higher pressure

SS 1LE on Apex 19" with ZLE sized 3R's. here's the fronts after one Chin day at Pitt Race: went out 26psi cold warming to 33ish hot. LF outer edge is peeling and RF inner is worn pretty good. So more camber would not have helped.

following this, I swapped right to left and ran one session at VIR before the peeling tire was done. ran the one with the inner edge a full second day and then it was done (at higher press though - at VIR went out 29 and ran 38 hot). will get shots of second set. one of them has 2 days on it and still has some life left (running 37 hot. - that gave me more life, but it's a bit too greasy). going to aim for 35 hot next time and see what that gives

BTW - The Goodyear engineers rolled into VIR as we left. they said they expect the 3R's to last 2 tanks of gas on the track (which I'm thinking is like 1 day). they also felt higher pressure would minimize the edge wear.

I ran with 3Rs last year on my SS1LE and was quite disappointed by tire wear as well, they lasted 4 Trackdays before showing cord on the outer. I dont plan on buying them again until I put camber plates, I think we need more than 3deg up front on the SS to extend their life.

Interesting, I am also on a very tight VERY technical track (former F1 back driver said it’s the 3rd most technical track he’s ever been on) which has 19 turns and only takes 1:20 for me to get around, my 3R’s last me 2 track days which is four sessions per day and I drive very hard. Feel free to look on YouTube “Camaro VIMC” I had -2.5 camber on the front and psi of 26 cold which got up to about 35 hot.

But it was the insides of my tires that corded first, I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the many off camber corners on the track...
