Performance questions

On the V6 does the exhaust add any HP or is it just sound?
Do you have to tune the car if you add CAI and 80mm throttle body?
Does a tune require you to run 93 octane?

CAI and TB in general will not require a tune, and with a tune you can run 87 as well as long as it's tuned for that specifically

Thanks. I think those will be the first things I do to the car. I just want to get a little more performance from it.

I have a ported TB, CAI, and Flomaster axle back exhaust with the stock tune. Definitely makes a difference, but a good aftermarket tune will no doubt make the biggest performance difference

a new exhaust is just going to make more sound.

it's not like the stock exhaust is restrictive. Long gone are the days of oem's using crinkle bent 1.5 inch exhausts on these cars.

The stock intake is a cai. The only difference is going to be filter type and surface area.

It can make a difference, but it's going to be single to maybe low teens. You're talking 0-5% improvement - if you're lucky and if you're wot.

tuning can make a difference in more ways than just wot performance, so that's less easily dismissed. Especially tcm/shifting related tuning. Unless you're getting a custom dyno tune (which is overkill for a stock v6), i'd recommend the tune first. It's the best bang for your buck. A K&N drop in filter will give you probably 80% of the benefit of a CAI for 50 bucks compared to 300+ ...you'll just have to clean it more frequently due to the lower surface area than a cone filter. And purchase your exhaust based on sound alone.

Thanks for the input everyone. This gives me a pretty good guide of where to go with this car.

Which TB do you have now?

I'm finally getting a 91 octane tune as well.

I went with Soler Performance. I bet that combined with a good tune would be really nice
