Use steering wheel paddles for other purposes

Hey guys,

I’m not too great with electrical/tuning so bare with me. can the rev match on a manual tranny car be tuned to stay on or off then use the paddles for something else? Say line lock/2step/nitrous?

Thanks

I don't think rev match can be tuned on, but there was a thread here by a true wizard who put together a circuit that automatically sent a "rev match paddle pressed" signal to the ECM after starting the engine. That, plus disconnecting the paddles should give you what you want; alternatively, you can disconnect and rewire only one of the paddles, leaving the other to control rev matching.

Ya I suppose leaving one as rev match then the other for something else would work too. It’s as easy as disconnecting the wires and then wiring it to whatever you want to control with it?

IIRC it's not super difficult. I replaced my black paddles with red Corvette counterparts, this clip shows you how to pop the airbag and remove the paddles, then you'll see the type of connector you need: https://youtu.be/Z8vJSsa2ghA.

The only thing I don't remember exactly is how difficult it is to route your new wires through without removing the steering wheel; if you do that, too, it is certainly very easy, but the wheel is held by a single T50 torx screw with a ton of blue threadlocker, so it's difficult to get started without stripping.
