Pinging noise when turning steering wheel
Hey guys. This may have been discussed but I’m noticing just today (900 miles) on my 21’ ZL1 1LE when I’m turning at low speeds I’m hearing what sounds like a tension wire ping. I’ve seen posts about a ticking but it’s more like if you’ve played with a tension wire and pulled it and let it go that’s what it sounds like.
Is this the ticking noise people are talking about on here? Help lol. Thanks everyone |

It honestly sounds like it’s part of the “clicking” noise but mine sounds like rubber bands snapping or a tension wire being pulled.
I sprayed with a power washer any brake dust/dirt from the front wheels (mostly coming from the front passenger wheel) and it’s still there but not as bad as it was earlier today. I bet the lug nuts just need to be tightened to 140 ft lbs like I’ve read. Hopefully it’s just that. |

I made a video so you can hear it.
It only does it once at the 3-4 second mark https://youtube.com/shorts/4qxqpSLr-PI |

That is definitely not wheel clicking noise. The wheel clicking is caused by corrosion between the wheel and wheel-hub. The clicks occur while the car is turning at low speed and there is lateral force from cornering load, causing the wheel to rock against the hub as it rotates. Fix for wheel clicking is here: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=12 |

Get your front struts looked at, I had the same thing on my 19 with 850 miles on it, even though it was the front right, my dealership replaced both at the same time, it seemed that the strut tower bearing slipped, but the thing is to have someone turn the wheel while you look at spring, if you see it turn and binds up then it's time to get them replaced, mine was covered under warranty so now I an GTG.

Could it be the clock spring in the steering column?
