Tire bulge

Does anyone have photos of a 275 on a 9" rim, or a 315 on a 10.5" rim? Both are at the narrow end of safe for their size, but I'm wondering if the tires look appropriate, or if they appear to bulge too much.

I don't have pictures, but this size chart from speedway motors indicates those tires are too wide for the wheels.

GM puts 275 on 9.5" wheels on the back of the SS, they fit just fine, many people go up to a 295 on the 9.5" wheel, I would think a 275 on a 9.0" wheel would be ok (check with the tire manufacture).

315 on a 10.5" wheel would probably be fine, but that's getting to the limit on that tire size (GM puts 305's on 11.0" wheels)...

I'm looking at Atturo AZ850 tires, they show them within the safe range, but I'm wondering if they would look right.

I have Atturo AZ850's on my 2SS with MRR017 1LE replicas (10.0" front and 11.0" rears) with 285/30 and 305/30 and they fit not problem, I am seriously considering 315/30 on the rears the next go around..

I think if you go 275 and 305 you will have absolutely no problems at all (with tire/rim fitment)...

This is an Atturo 285/30 on a 10.0" rim....

285/30 on front on 10.0" rim and 305/30 on 11.0" rim on the rear...

275/30 on a 9.0" rim from Atturo...

315/30 on a 10.5" rim from Atturo...

10.0" and 11.0" would obviously be your better choice, but your rim sizes are within the tire manufacture recommended ranges...

My concern is more the aesthetics of using the narrowest (although safe) rim/tire combo. I feel my stock 245/40/20 and 275/35/20 look perfect on their 8.5" and 9.5" rims, they both protrude past the rim in a visually appealing way to me.

My goal is to run 275/35/20 fronts, with 315/30/20 rears, both are nearly identical to the factory height tires. I'm personally not a fan of the look of the shorter 1LE combo 285/30/20 and 305/30/20. My goal was a 275 front on a 9.5" rim, and a 315 on a 11" rear rim, this would give me the appearance of height and width I'm looking for. I was working with a very nice gentleman at MRR to get the right rim combo for the tires and look I'm going for, however, he informed me they discontinued their 9.5" FS06 rims, and the M017 rims aren't available in anything but 10" and 11", and I feel a 275 would look stretched on a 10" rim. He did tell me they have 9" for the front, which would work, but again, I'm wondering if the 275 tires would look "right" on a 9" rim. If I went with a 9" front, I would probably go with a 10.5" rear for the 315's so the tire bulge from front to rear look similar.

You'll be fine with a 275 on a 9". I bought a set of OEM 2019+ SS wheels from a member here a few years ago, with the tires, and when I got them home one looked strange. Tire looked too narrow. When I looked closely at all of them, I found that whomever put the tires on, goofed and put a 275 on a front 8.5, and a 245 on a rear 9.5 (they weren't the GY RoF's, they had been put on by the dealer this guy bought the car from). Anyway, the thing that gave it away to me was the 245 on the WIDER rim, NOT the 275 on the narrower rim. In fact, it looked totally normal to me. SO, a 275 on a 9" wheel is 1/2" wider than what I was seeing, so I'd say no problem.

Based on all the stuff I've seen here, I'm going to go up 20 on F & R when I need new tires (on OEM SS 8.5 & 9.5) to 255 & 295. I also have a buddy with an ATS coupe who went up 20 F & R and his set looks normal too.

I think it'll will look fine on 10 & 11" rims... 1/2" is a pretty small difference and will not really change the look...

I would go 275/35 on a 10" front and 315/30 on an 11" rear...
