5th gen SS to 6th gen LT

Has anybody here gone up from a 5th gen SS to a 6th gen LT(V6 engine) for whatever reasons(daily driver, etc...)? If so, how did you like that change? Does the car feel nimble and quick enough, that you're not disappointed of the transition to less torque? Also, does it meet your needs for a daily driver?

I have never owned a 5th gen, however I have the 2LT RS with the V6 and i drive it daily.
My opinion may not mean everything to you as I did not leave a V8 car to go to a V6, however this V6 is amazing. I'm not wishing for more power, the cost of regular fuel vs premium fuel saves me $ and the car is great on gas and flips into "V4" mode when cruising. I have no regrets..some people ask why I got the V6 instead if the V8...I tell them 335hp is enough to keep me happy...then after they pick up their jaws they drive away in their 125hp Kia lol

I went from a GTO with some go fast stuff and suspension mods and I don't really miss the GTO that much.

I also DD the car. It's a damn fun DD. Plus, I went from about 15MPG in the GTO to 22MPG in the Camaro and the regular vs premium price difference.

Does it have the V8 punch? No. Yet, I still grin in it when I push the car AND get my wife to yell, "Stop!!! I'm going to throw up!!" Followed by maniacal laughter. It's a winner.

335 HP is PLENTY for the streets and combine with good fuel economy, the V6 is plentiful!

I had a 2010 2LT RS and went to a 2013 RS/SS. I'm seriously considering going back to the 6.
The 2LT also comes with all seasons so you don't have to worry about the summer only tires on the SS as well.
I don't race, I have a long commute, and it will be my DD. I loved having the 8, but I'm pretty sure 335 hp is more than enough oomph for passing.

Unfortunately I don't think asking that question will help if you are faced with that dilemma since people buy camaros based on different needs. If all you're concerned about is daily driving, then I think that all trim levels will provide a fun commute to work.

I know the 6th gen v6 is rated at 335hp and my old 4th gen ss was rated at 325, and that's saying quite a lot for the 6, but that ls1 torque tho!!!!!

Well, you're comparing it to a '94 lt1 z28 in that video, which I'm sure the 6th v6 would kill, but there's a little difference between a 94 lt1 z28 and a 00 ls1 ss camaro (or any ls1 for that matter). Going from personal experience, my 00 ss ran 13.4@107 with a not so stellar 2.2 60'. I then put some slicks and skinnies on it, kept everything else bone stock and got a 12.9@110 from it with a 1.9 60'

Yeah I was just pointing out the old V8's in general..

Man, I remember those years 93 -2000's I think.. High 13's was the norm for fast cars. Supra turbo, Corvette, NSX, Camaro SS, RX7 Tubro, Mitsu 3000 GT VR4.. I think the Supra Turbo was the fastest at mid 13's that was tested.

Viper was the only car in stock form running mid to high 12's.

Fast forward til today, V6 and turbo 4 bangers are almost beating those times. Wow.

To the OP, if it's your DD with X amount of miles to commute and if you don't look for the 1/4, 0-60 in every performance car, the V6 is perfect.

I haven't driven any 6th gen, but if I needed to get different car, I'd seriously think about getting an LT model. The main appeal for me is the better gas mileage and being able to use regular gas. In the old days, premium gas was about 20 cents higher than regular. Now it can be as much as 50 cents or more per gallon. And also obviously the price of an SS vs the LT would be a big consideration.

The numbers show the new V6 is quicker than the 4th gen's LT1, which is fantastic. I was completely satisfied with my '96 Z28. I loved how low the torque peak rating was (something like 2400 rpm's, maybe), and it would move off the line quick. I don't know how the new V6 would compare with that.

No but I owned a 4th Gen Z/28 and a 5th Gen 2LT/RS and I will say I really enjoy my 5th Gen so much so I drove my 4th Gen Z/28 maybe 5-6 times in 6 years of owning my 2010 V6. So much so I finally sold my 4th Gen back in November. The only thing I missed was the sound of my GMMG chambered exhaust but that was minor.
